1. Introduction (taken from DTG's TSC Steam page): Known for their natural beauty and historical importance, the scenic Linke Rheinstrecke and the Mainbahn are both part of the Frankfurt – Koblenz route in Train Simulator. The Linke Rheinstrecke dates back to the 1840s, when attempts were made step by step to connect Cologne, Bonn and Koblenz with Mainz. The southern section between Koblenz and Mainz opened in the late 1850s. The route is known for running along the left bank of the Rhine. The Mainbahn was built after the completion of the Rhein-Mainbahn, which connected Mainz with Aschaffenburg. This new route was to branch off in Bischofsheim and run along the Rhine to Frankfurt am Main. It was built in less than two years. The opening was in January 1863. Combined, the Linke Rheinstrecke and the Mainbahn offered a direct connection from Cologne to Frankfurt. Until the opening of the high-speed line, this was one of the busiest routes in Germany. It has not lost its importance in recent years. A train station for Frankfurt Airport was built in 1972, followed by the Gateway Gardens train station, which opened in 2019. Both stations can be reached via an underground tunnel that runs underneath the airport terminals. The routes are served by regional and intercity trains. In recent years, however, these have been given the name SÜWEX (Südwest-Express). Instead of red, they were given white paint as the basis and a fleet of ultra-modern DB BR 429.1 series electric multiple units. 2.
