Hi all, i just wanted to share my thoughts here about the new LIRR. Brandon (aka CactusJuice) has made this route better than the first ever will be! the signaling on this route is fantastic and the lively atmosphere of this route feels amazing. Of course this route has its problems every now and then, but ignoring all of that, this route is probably one of my favorites U.S routes in the game now! The non-stop feeling i get while driving this route and seeing tons of trains while driving makes this route feel great! Signaling was a major life saver for this route. All thanks to Brandon!
Couldn’t agree more! I’m getting a little “annoyed” at all the nonsense negatives. This is in general never a perfect product, but this route is one of the best I’ve played, and I haven’t touched another route since it came out. This route is extremely good, and with a few very small updates I think LIRR has a chance to be one of the better updates/routes ever on the platform. Thanks to all involved!
I agree! Original LIRR was one of the most disapointing routes in TSW due to the poor timetable. Now it has one of the best- great job!!!
Also turned Boston into one of my favorites with the signaling work around the time Acela dropped. That was a decidedly mediocre route before that. Now it’s excellent. I think he had something to do with Harlem too (correct me if not). Guys the GOAT. Unfortunately I don’t think he was involved in signaling for NYT and it’s the main area that is pretty lacking on that route imo Shoutout to Joe too for the timetable work, it’s excellent tbh
I bought the route last week just so show my respect for all that work that went into it, IIRC during the route preview stream it was said he had to set up and adjust circa 2000 signals by hand. That is incredible and shows how much "love and affection" went into this. Now the time has come to dive into and learn the signaling aspects of LIRR again ;-)
daaamn guys, you are hyping me so much my wallet is going to cry its death wail soon lol... stupid question maybe, but is CactusJuice the guy who did that 2+ hrs long signalling guide?
Yes, that’s him. This route is really keeping my attention thanks to both the timetable and the signalling. The first time I’ve really enjoyed a US Route.
That’s it. Going for it definitely later when I get on the main PC. Essentially the K2 of train simming, as opposed to walking up Everest!!
Yes, only had time for some short runs so far, but all working well, cab signalling pretty straightforward after a little practice, great timetable, lots of AI and route runs well with consistent 50- 60fps. Shows what DTG can accomplish when time and care are taken. I'm sure players will find bugs, but nothing major so far for me. Has anyone done night driving? Always a major concern for me with any route.
Night driving IMO is probably some of the best in the game. You can also try night lighting with fog.just make sure you select the headlights to dim and I find it to be the best in the game. Again just my opinion
I wish I had half the knowledge on trains you have, then I wouldnt have to ask ppl all the time on forums if sth is a bug, feature or sth else like, yesterday I spent quite some time looking for info on Acela just to see if the power/acceleration ratio in the game is close to IRL
Have to say I am also thoroughly enjoying the route as well. The cab signalling tutorials are easy to follow and after a few mis-steps, which were entirety my fault, the route is a pleasure to drive. Clearly a lot of work has gone into it.
I think DTG have finally got the message now that we all want busy routes with as much variation in rolling stock as possible. Remastering has definitely improved this game. Now how about going back to the BML and officially putting the 700 there?
Always enjoyable having Brandon on the streams to talk about his work. Kudos to him, and glad you're enjoying the content!
That's a hugemungus myth when it comes to pc users at least. I have the Class 700 timetable mod for the BML and it introduces many, many 700's including 12 car FLU units and makes the line about twice as busy as it is now. My pc performance is faultless and I get excellent fps. Don't forget the biggest memory sinks on BML occurred in or near Victoria due to a high number of Southern and SE services, also to a lesser extent at Clapham Jct, Thameslink 700's are not present at either of these locations... I think you are being taken for a ride by DTG rather than the 700.
I normally buy uk routes as am in the uk. But watching lirr kn the stream, looks so busy, which u like cause bml is busy which i do prefer. So what am asking is us it worth a buy on series x. I like a busy timetable as i said. Would i get all the trains? Or will i need to buy any other dlc to have a full timetable? Cheers
And you are running an i9 with a 4090, right? I tried the mod; and as very good a modder as trainsimcz is, this one reduces my PC to a slideshow.
If you buy just the route you’ll get both the M9 and M7 which plays a massive role in the timetable. If you want an extra 30 some services you can get the M3 which also gives you a couple more scenarios.
I'm running an i7 with 16gb RAM on a gaming laptop and am having no problems at all. Probably the only busy place for the 700 on this route is in and out of Brighton, and even that's fine. I'm sure if DTG were to remaster this route with their latest tech it'd be fine with the extra trains, after all just look at the services on NY-Trenton and LIRR now. Are you sure you haven't got some programs running in the background or something?
Loving the busy element to this route. It's definitely lifted and with the racing and parallel running its spectacular
LIRR2 not perfect by any means but IMO stands out from the rest.it’s none linear route that offers some many features and different type services to keep you busy for a long time
Yes, just ran from Penn to Atlantic via Jamaica in the M9. Really shows the non-linear nature of LIRR which really enhances gameplay.
