Really loving the route a lot, thought it would be a boring high speed run but the variety is generally unmatched, a few more tweaks to the 801 sound set would make this route a very good route. So far it’s a classic from me. here’s a first screenshot to top it off
*Really petty old man alert* I told you so! *All clear* I do agree though on the whole they have done a good job. By no means perfect but on the whole has made me very happy to have it in game.
Yep great job and please pass my messages on to the wonderful dev team behind the route. It’s a really lovely route
Yeah really liking it. My only issue so far is the Alerter volume level is much too low. Other than that, so far so good.
Awesome, also is there anyway you could maybe add to the names of the 801/1 and 801/2 which is the 9 car, and which is the 5 car?
I'm probably going to forget that if I take a break to be fair :P. You're a Class 800 driver IRL right? How's it feel to you?
I love the new photo mode, I have been using that more than I have been driving...........My only issue is the alerter in the 801 cab is too quiet.
Haha, it is confusing as the 800s are the other way round so I have to think! Yes I am. I have done a few trips up and down the line and, overall it's not bad at all and all my braking points in real life work in game giving me stops as good or better than what I can do in real life and acceleration is just as nippy. There are some issues but overall very good job.
Another issue what I have found is the AI seem to use the diesel engine as well the electric mode as well.
That's high praise coming from someone that actually drives them irl. Are the two screens on the left of the cab for CCTV stuff?
Yes, I must give DTG the credit there, not a bad job at all, like I say not perfect but not bad at all. Yes, they are but the quality on the camera is so shocking they may as well not be there.
Just finished my first run. I think it's gonna go down as one of the best. Truly well done. Great scenery. Lots of traffic. I can't wait to know the route and the 801 inside and out. I will agree with the OP on the audio mixing, specifically the AWS sounds. They're a bit quiet. Another thing I'm noticing is lots of double yellows that immediately clear to green after you get the AWS alarm. I didn't see anything in front of me on the map so I'm wondering if the timing of dispatch system needs to be tweaked. I notice it on MML at over 100 mph too.
May I ask how many miles from each station do you brake from it's ok if you don't know it's just that I want to brake smoother and better when coming up to stations, is it 1,2 miles ETC may I ask.
And the rest for me, all we need is film grain and it’ll be brilliant!. Must admit it plays better on my PS4 Pro than TSW1.2 and 3 did, and the draw distance and detail is better!. It loads faster and plays better, but the controls when changing weather etc is very very sensitive. But overall DTG. Certainly the best TSW by far!. Well done all.
It does depend greatly on driver preference and location, but personally a good rule to start with in game is from 125 leave it to coast from about the 3 mile mark and then about 1 1/2 1 3/4 miles or if going downhill closer to 2 miles away away shove it in min brake and then you just need to adjust it from there. Some places you'll find you can even wait until 1 1/4 mile away but that is living on the edge. Also even if you keep the distance up have reference points for each station as they are easier to remember than numbers. eventually you will get to a point where you will shut off and the apply the brake and leave it in that setting until you are at the marker, that's when you know you've mastered it.
I’ve started making notes on braking points for most stations — when I’ve found something I’m happy with I’ll try and post those somewhere!
Have to say, something that struck me right away was the lushness and greater variety of the trees/vegetation. Feels like a leaf out of the Nidderthalbahn... no pun intended!
Yep, if you're using the new HUD, braking points are pretty important! Would be good to hear of other folks landmarks to get to a decent station stop.
So far, down (Peterborough to Doncaster) Grantham: start braking at the third signal after Stoke tunnel Newark: start breaking just after the first overpass after Claypole Down Loop (slow passing loop on the down line) Retford: haven’t found an ideal point yet. Starting to brake when you pass the 115 board after Askham tunnel seems to be quite good, approach signalling will also check you down Doncaster: start braking at Loversal Carr Junction (junction to the lines going into Carr depot)
Now I may be asking for a bit to much but could you put pics of the places of the brake points please because I don't know the ECML that to well.
That sounds about right, it'll be interesting to see what different people use as I know in real life we all have different things that we use and so I would assume people will in game too.
Haven’t taken any! But I’ll try to remember on my next run FWIW that’s all from the network rail sections appendix! You get nice track diagrams with distances and all
