Does this Steam route come as an .ap file or does it have the same file structure as supplied directly by JT? I ask because Bossman's scenario pack for their Class 50 specifically requires the Steam version of Kyle, which seems surprisingly specific.
.ap files can be unpacked using 7zip. It's just a zipped folder. The folder structure may still be different when unpacked though.
Just checked. The steam version is installed as a .ap file, but it's folder structure, should you unpack it is shown below...
Thanks Pookeyhead, very helpful and on that basis I'll probably get the route from Steam. I enjoy modding routes and it's so much easier if they exist as an .ap file, as you can easily see the files you've changed and hence what you need to back up. P.S. I'm aware you're not a big fan of it.
IB I have the JT version of the Kyle Line and the BMG Class 50 Mega Pack works fine with the JT route. Don't forget any changes you make within the .ap file structure will be overwritten in a game file verification and/or a significant upgrade. Any modifications outside the .ap structure will not be overwritten. I'm curious as to what you need to back-up?
All the files created outside the .ap structure created when I modify the route. I don't want them lost if I lose my HD or if they unexpectedly get overwritten by something Dovetail does. Also I periodically obliterate my Railworks installation and then reinstall what currently interests me, so I want to be able to re-install the mods from my cloud backup.
