After the update it's great that the screens now have a cursor on PS5 when in screen view, but if we use the D-pad to navigate the screen, as was suggested in the live streams, we just open the doors on either side of the train! Pressing X to select a button does nothing, just pops up with "Driver Mode" on the right of the screen. This was a feature that had the potential to be really useful for those of us on console but the delivery of it has been botched twice. Why are these things never tested on consoles, and why aren't patches tested before being pushed for release. So frustrating.
Considering consoles make up a significant number of players machines, DTG does an incredibly bad job at supporting them.
Why would you want to use the D-Pad if you can use the joystick? Using D-Pad to move the cursor is more annoying than joystick..
I assumed it would be like tramsim where using the D-pad allowed you to jump from button to button, rather than move the cursor. There is also a terrible dead spot issue with joysticks so D-pad control would provide a finer input.
They really should be forced to develop for controllers first and add keyboard and mouse support later. It's always painfully obvious controller support is an afterthought. You still can't scroll through scenario descriptions, for example.
Because D-pad is the most logical choice to go Up/Down/Right/Left. It works way faster than pointing if you are used to playing with controller. The screens work in horizontal/vertical rows. Most of the screens are not touch displays and if they are touch screens the touch pad on PS5 should be the designated input. D-pad is really something DTG needs to master because there are so many controls that would be easier to use if D-pad was implemented more often. Very disappointing that D-pad still not works on screens although promised in the stream.
I've had a bit of time away from the game as been busy. I see you STILL can't use the screen view properly on console. Come on DTG get it fixed. A core feature of the new game not working nearly 3 months in. Pressing left on D pad I get the open door message. Pressing X to select a button I get a Driver Mode message. Whats going on??
Still don't have properly working screen mode on the ps5. If I click on a screen I get the zoomed in area but using the D-pad to move the cursor still opens the doors and pressing X to select a button just comes up with "Driver Mode". 6 months after its introduction, consoles still don't have the feature. Has anyone at DTG acknowledged this issue? Are thing ever tested on consoles.
In the roadmap stream last Tuesday DTG Matt said that they are aware of this and are looking into it. Let's hope a solution won't take too much longer anymore
