I am not sure if this already exists or has existed for PS. It would be useful to have an in-game menu where we can select which layers we want active in timetable mode rather than installing the DLC. This would be very helpful to Gen 8 users, particularly for routes that don't have a reduced timetable or if the reduced timetable is still too much with any additional layers.
When you load a route, you choose a train. Before choosing the train you want to drive, next to the search bar there exists an option to choose which layers you want. The only caveat is you have to select the layers to remove each time you load the route.
Not used it before - but this is crazy! They need to make a way such that the selections remain the same, like settings - madness that people have to re-remove layers each time!
