One thing that has been highly requested and wished for by the community has been an extension to the east coast mainline. Since extending it to London is a lot more challenging I am here today to request a Leeds and York Extension for the line.

    York Extension:
The York extension would be a 30 mile, 125mph pure high speed run, it would include the Selby diversion, a pure 125mph high speed portion of the route (which is the first purpose built high speed route in the uk) as well as the beautiful York station and national rail museum, as well as York sidings and depot, this would be a very good place to shunt with the flying Scotsman and other heritage locomotives from other routes. There is only one station on this route (York station). Runtime is 30 mins (approx.)

    Leeds Extension:
The Leeds extension is suited more to those that prefer commuter runs. It is 29 miles long, with 8 intermediate stations (Outwood, Wakefield Westgate, Sandal and Agbrigg, Fitzwilliam, South Elmsall, Adwick, Bentley). It is also served by LNER which makes one intermediate stop at Wakefield Westgate. The route is a lot more slow paced and the max speed is 100mph. This route is also served by northern, which offer regional and commuter services inbetween the two stations.

Possible Locos to come with this route

    Love it (the 225 mainly)!

Would like to see a voyager (220/221) dlc for this route as they operate between York and Leeds too. Would then be compatible as a layer with further ECML extensions including (hopefully) York -> Newcastle and Newcastle -> Edinburgh with some kind of merge to get between sections conveniently. Many sections each with their own rolling stock could certainly add increased variety of stock available on the ECML route as a whole

Apologies - meant voyager between York and Doncaster. Not often York to Leeds.

Most of the the crosscountry services do york to leeds (Leeds to south kirkby jn on this route), very few do york to doncaster.

I've completely lost track of what I meant tbh, so I'll start again.
    • Yes, XC do do York -> Leeds
    • The branchline to Leeds suggestion outlined above seems to give stations between Doncaster and Leeds rather than York and Leeds.
For example today, XC has the following services

I think this suggestion will open up these routes:
    Doncaster to Leeds 1 service
    Leeds to Doncaster 0 services
    Doncaster to York 5 services
    York to Doncaster 5 services

Unsure if this one would be opened:
    York to Leeds 15 services
    Leeds to York 15 services

They also have some services that don't do the whole of either of the stretches. For example, 33 services pass Outwood each day (most of which are included in the above data)

I like this idea but I think it would be one or another. York I imagine would be quite straight forward and would mainly be express service focussed with minimal station modelling whereas Leeds would provide more of an alternative introducing more commuter services in the form of the Doncaster - Leeds service and require a lot more modelling.

I'd say extend to Doncaster, then do an extra pack from Doncaster/York to Leeds, Selby, Castleford and all those destinations inbetween
