so much good work, but Rapid Transit is utterly flawed. I foolishly bought a new locomotive for a rail-line that i have travelled. The speed restrictions outside Magdeburg 2021 are missing, which might have been a one off, but then Leipzig-Messe to the Hbf and we have neglect that needs explaining. I have seen this in my career when a product manager is a bud of the owner who finds the QA manager to be a pain: two bro's versus a woman. Guess who likely quit, if i know anything about the bros. Shame on Focus to have not held back TSW 4 until fixes, Oh, and that new locomotive ? When i am next in Braunschweig maybe i will laugh about this one !
assuming you mean they were their in 2021, the route isn’t set in that year (it’s sometime before but it has 2 timetables)
RT is one of the oldest routes in the franchise. Other than a sticking plaster for the Dosto issue which Matt mentioned the other day, it’s well and truly off the fix and update list.
Yes there is apparently a bug that makes them undriveable (reporting third hand as I don't own the route myself and not likely to unless it's on sale for £2.99).
Yes, the Dostos have been broken since the launch of TSW3. It’s impossible to release the traction interlock. DTG acknowledged the bug a long time ago, but it only now being fixed. A workaround is to install another DLC that uses Dostos and use that instead or for more of a challenge switch to the locomotive, and drive it in reverse for the whole route. I actually really like the route. It’s old and the sounds are poor, but it’s still one I really like and have had to keep TSW2 installed to play.
Oh I agree, especially the sub surface section - it is well done. However the near silent 1442's also spoil it for me which is why, unless it gets a heavy sale discount or pops up in a completion bundle, I'm unlikely to add it to my retro collection.
Is the route worth upgrading? Never bought it but it seems so popular? I do admit that it's the route with the coolest name still in 2023
I like the route with the updated timetable, if you have the layers it is quite busy. I also think the route looks nicely modelled and some interesting sections, although some of it can be quite samey. The sounds of the Talent 2 on it are poor, I can't hear any run sounds, it is a shame the sounds weren't updated with the sounds from the later Talent 2. Also the Dostos cab car which seems to be taking an interminable amount of time to be fixed. You can use other Dostos cab cars but if it turns up if you have spawned on foot you aren't going anywhere!
I think so at least the lighting as it is dark like other TSW2 routes. TSW3 lighting is much better. I have played it all day today and must say I love it. If you like having PZB ON it is a challenge! You have to be quick, fast and concentrate, or you get to stop plenty! LOL I highly recommend the route. When it first came out years ago before they worked on it, maybe not so. But it is fun!! I enjoy routes like Glossop, Birmingham and Cathcart Circle. This is high quality too. I'll test the Dopplestock.
It is very dark like TSW2 routes. Like Luzern Sursee (which is another brilliant route near Germany). But very enjoyable!! Worth it! I only got it this year after seeing a few reviews in facebook's Train Sim World Community Public Group. Definitely worth £5 if you find it on sale or a key.
To start up the route, stare at the scenery and having to be angry because I wasted a coffee on something that I never gonna play and eats up my disk space?
If I was to upgrade the route, I would Have higher volume for sound (they can't get sounds apparently unless some German ppl in Leipzig can get them???) Upgrade TSW3/4 lighting Any known bugs..... get at least 2 or 3 of them. I thought there are PZB bugs but I am fairly sure I wasn't concentrating because it was when I was eating I got penalties ROFL!!! I didn't encounter any bugs though. But to be honest it is what it is. I hope we see a Berlin Leipzig route or a Dresden to Berlin/Leipzig (or both!) I would love to see this route have 4 or 5 branches maybe a several extra S-Banhs and a freight line for 40 miles?
I’ve always quite liked the route, it’s a bit of a lengthy one in terms of service times compared to my usual preference for high speed, but I’ve always found it quite scenic, it has a rather nice white light to it what brings out the green grass textures to be quite modern looking, and the stations particularly the underground are nicely modelled. Apart from the Dostos bug, they’re isn’t anything particularly wrong with the route, it’s just a bit older so sound quality aren’t exactly brand new.
What is with all these low effort, non-sensical complaint threads lately? How many more times do we have to say that focus have almost no say/ interaction in the development of TSW.
Seems unlikely. Matt appears to have kindly sorted the Dosto issue in his spare time and it seems unlikely the "LAMP"/Approval Committee would authorise money and resources on this old route. They haven't done it for GWE or any of the other older works...
The route is quite cool in my opinion. It was the very first German route, so the way the scenery is modeled is very unique. The colors are more realistic/intense and less washed-out than later routes, stations have far more detail. The preservation crew added a cool new timetable with some layers and retrofitted the PIS displays onto the platforms and the train. It definitely has its flaws, but I don’t think it’s among the worst routes at all.
One of the old Blackpool "OMO" (One Man Operated) cars. Converted from some the traditional railcoaches in the early 1970's but all gone by the early 90's.
Oh, I hope they fix the stuff that's not working. This is such a cool game, and we want to enjoy all of it.
If you like having PZB on it is impossible. The main issues are that many 1000Hz magnets are active when they shouldn't be (in TSW 3, I even found an active 1000Hz magnet that should have been a 500Hz), and that, in the BR 1442, a restrictive 1000Hz surveillance stays active in the background after pressing the Freitaste. This means that, if you pass an active 1000Hz magnet again within 1250m, the surveillance speed instantly drops to 45 km/h, but realistically, it should only instantly drop to 85 km/h. Both of these issues will cause you to get penalty brake applications even if you're being realistic in compliance with PZB rules. The other major issue is that no signal ever clears before you've closed your doors. For the signals with level crossings behind them, this somewhat makes sense (it should still close and clear before you're closing your doors), but in the tunnel, where signals are very close, this means you are constantly limited to 45 or 25 km/h, making it literally impossible to stay on schedule. So, you basically have to press Wachsam at all advanced signals because there might be a stray active 1000Hz magnet, and go 45 km/h past the next signal if you had a restrictive surveillance within the last 1250m, and live with the fact you will be several minutes late. To me, that isn't being quick, fast, and concentrating, it's dealing with a flawed route. And it's a shame because if it weren't for these issues, the route would be quite nice. It's actually a lot of fun with the Taurus and Dostos, which suffer less from the aforementioned issues.
It's a route with a lot of potential, it'd be nice to see it revisited, possibly as a version 2.0 like the IOW route. Including the main train shed and some freight infrastructure would allow for much more potential services
The problem with freight is, that Leipzig's main freight yard isn't part of that route. Actually, they divert at Leipzig-Messe (in post 11 image 3 the incoming track from the left is the track, where freight services begin/end their run on this route). On the other hand, I remember a cab drive video where the driver had to wait for 50 minutes on this track, before he was allowed on the route... So, wouldn't be that wrong to start/end freight services on this route on this track. Well, at least, in free roam, you now can drive freight trains beginning/ending on this track, which would be realistic.
