Service "TGV 5010" to Marseille St.Charles started via "Journey mode" TVM just goes between white diamonds 230/270 and green block 300 and 320 always blinking. Maybe I'm following another train and I'm reacting incorrectly? But seems rather strange, if it wants me to slow down why go between 170 and 300, it never happenes in the TS version as far as I remember. It seems like there is actually a train in front during this service, because I don't have exactly the same pattern as you (maybe I accelerated more slowly) but then around 38km from Marseille, the tvm begins to flash. I think it's becuse of the train in front, maybe we have to reduce speed a little bit
Ok so I reduced speed to 270kph and tvm keeps flashing between diamonds 270 and squares 320, so I assume that's actually a bug !
Actually I don't know because it's true there is a train in front and so we need to reduce speed but the tvm behavior is strange... Any tvm specialist here ? haha
It makes sense that your TVM is switching between 270 and 320 because another train is occupying the 5th block ahead of your train, but it eventually clears that block. TVM anticipates stops well in advance, so it starts slowing you down with the flashing 270, but the moment the preceding train clears the block, TVM immediately switches back to 320. If the train ahead was stationary, you would start to see 270, followed by 230, 160, then 000. If you immediately apply full power and start catching up to the train in front, TVM would eventually slow you down again with a flashing 270. You should start matching speed with the train ahead as to not get TVM speed changes so often. Because of the alternating 270 and 320, you know that the train ahead is traveling faster than 270, but slower than 320. You can try going at 300 to see if you start getting a TVM 270. If you do, then the train ahead is between 270-300. Keep doing this and you'll eventually match speed with the train ahead.
I imagined it could be me not reactly correctly, still I thought it would be smarter that than, similar to LZB, that's why it didn't feel right... but I wouldn't know. Another thing I didn't know was that they coded the train on front of you to go slower, so it made no sense I was being continuously held up even after I did a lot of the journey well below the speed limit.
See, I don't think this is right because even if I do 270kph the whole way to Aix-en-Provence in anticipation of the slower train in front of me, I still get the flashing 320 that occasionally changes to 270. Additionally, if this is not a bug, it's definite design flaw because 1) it makes no sense for Dovetail to code a train to be that close to the player for an entire timetable unless it were a challenge scenario, 2) it makes no sense for Dovetail to code a train to travel that far below the speed limit (assuming the train is travelling between 270kph and 300kph [which it obviously isn't, it's much lower than that]). I mean this sort of behavior I would expect in a scenario where there is a challenge aspect to it, but not a timetable. EDIT: Sidenote, I am on Steam, so this behavior is also present on PC. EDIT 2: Turns out, whatever the TVM is seeing is travelling 250kph, at 250kph the problem went away. Also, as soon as you hit the 300kph limit, the TVM stops this random erratic behavior, so I doubt it's train.
The train in front of you is coded to go slower than the speed limit... that's why I was very confused as well... and I thought that the red lights that turn green after you close the doors were too artificial... I hope they don't do anything like this ever again
