I think the LGV Mediterranèe should be extended to Paris Lyon will give my reasons later This route is very quiet and not very busy it needs to be updated to Tod 4 lighting There needs to be some local routes as well for local trains and AI Marseille Saint-Charles Avignon Centre To Avignon TGV station like to see new French trains Maybe put the new ICE 406M for high speed to Germany New TGV ouigo Blue TGV Atlantique TGV Rèseau TGV POS lyria Euroduplex Have this as a game pack in TSW6 It will make the route fill Busy already got the TGV duplex 200 TER Hauts-de-France my number one reason is it feels empty
I agree with you, the route is very short with only 3 stations and a couple of disused stations (only one of them is listed on the map) and and about the TOD4 lighting, yes it clearly needs it, actually all the outdated (TSW2/TSW2020) routes need newer lighting, and also the LGV Mediterranèe route could have the TGV Reseau Duplex or Eurostar Class 373/374 as a potential add-on we'll It may be less certain since DTG would have abandoned the TSW2/ TSW2020 routes, not entirely.
With the way that for some reason thr TGV gives the driver an instant round of chemotherapy, I think there'd need to be more than just an extension. As for the main part of the thread, I heavily agree. If only SNCF would actually be open to that.
There is still some doubt as to where SNCF sit with licensing or permissions. And to be honest, if we ever got another French route would prefer something more conventional like the classic line along the Riviera.
Well it’s one of those grey areas… They had a licence to do LGV but have not undertaken anything SNCF since. Like most of these issues there’s nothing in black and white but there has certainly been discussion about SNCF no longer being prepared to have their trains and operations depicted in a sim. Fairly certain it was concerns over security of their trains. Maybe it was on a stream mentioned verbally by Matt or one of the CM’s but as with other similar issues it has become a TSW myth not actually written down by as sourced. I know I shouldn’t really ping, but wondered if DTG Matt could set the record straight as SNCF has come up a few times recently in Suggestions.
Disregarding Paris, even Lyon is way too much for an extension. From Avignon to Lyon, it's over 200km, so this extension would be longer than the longest routes in TSW to date. French LGV lines are problematic for TSW, as they often run for hundreds of kilometres without a station, and they aren't built with a low ramp angle like most German high-speed lines, so you can't cut time in development by having lots of tunnels. Even with an extension, the route would hardly get more exciting, as most of the time you'll still be driving through southern France without any stops or interesting AI traffic to look at. The 406 from MKN is wrong for this route. The MKN 406, which is identical to the one from SKA, wasn't certified for France and neither did it run there. There were five BR406 units that were converted to the ICE3MF (406 080 - 406 085) that were used on services between Frankfurt and Paris. The services between Frankfurt and Marseille are, to my knowledge, only run with TGV 2N2, so you won't see an ICE there. The TGV POS only runs there in the summer months, and only one train per direction per day. I doubt anybody will develop a train just to have two service in the timetable. It's a bespoke high-speed line, of course, it feels empty. Have you seen the real traffic on there? Sure, Marseille Saint-Charles feels empty, as all you'll see there are other TGV, but there isn't enough track on the classic line to argue for a loco DLC there. You can also look at KWG, as apart from the three stations there, the route also feels empty, with only a hand full of trains passing you on a one hour journey along the entire route.
No idea where that's come from Vern, more myth cooked up in the community I think. We *only* had SNCF TGV license when we made that route, they have multiple. Since then we gained the TER and Fret licenses over time. I have not heard anything about SNCF not wanting their stuff in game at all, they worked really well with us and put a lot of time into detailed reviews and feedback on the TGV when we made it. Not doing another French route so far is more about there only being finite hours in the day tbh! Matt.
Thanks Matt. Sounds like it is (was) one of those licensing urban myths that started out and just grew. Hopefully in time we will see something else from France, not just TGV/LGV but the many classic routes and diesels/electrics with Corail stock. Fond memories of travelling down the Cevenol Line from Clermont Ferrand to Nimes (through train from Paris) though missed a lot of the scenery through being knackered after the overnight journey via Newhaven/Dieppe.
I’d love for days to have more hours in it. A part of a french TER route would be a wonderful add-on (and would be able to use TGV trains too, since most of the french rail can handle TGV, albeit not always at full speed)
