Route Length: ~142 km (88 miles) Rolling Stock: New - SNCF Class BB 26000 + Corail coaches + B5uxh cab car Layers - TGV Duplex 200 (filling in for the TGV Euroduplex services) - ICE 1 - ICE 3M - Freight locomotives Gameplay: High-speed regional rail with frequent stops, high speed express services, freight Scenery: Alsace Plain, Vosges Mountains, Black Forest, historic landmarks, industrial hub of Mulhouse, multi-national urban sprawl of Basel Licenses: SNCF TER, DB, SBB (optional) Time Period: Modern Similar Add-ons: LGV Méditerranée: Marseille - Avignon (French high-speed operations) Hauptstrecke München - Augsburg (Mix of 200km/h regional and high-speed services) Why this route: This would be the definitive cross-border experience in TSW, bridging the gap between French, German, and Swiss railway systems. It offers a unique blend of "inter-city speed" on a regional budget, utilizing the iconic Corail coaches which are a staple of French rail history but are currently being phased out, making this a perfect digital preservation of the TER 200 legacy. You would travel through the heart of the Alsace region, featuring a flat, high-speed valley floor framed by the Vosges Mountains to the west and the Black Forest to the east. Key landmarks include the historic Strasbourg-Ville station with its modern glass dome, the Cité du Train museum in Mulhouse, and the unique border crossing into the massive Basel SBB complex in Switzerland.
Really nice suggestion. Strasbourg–Basel makes a lot of sense for TSW: long enough to feel immersive, but still realistic to develop. The BB 26000 + Corail TER setup fits the line perfectly, and the cross-border side (France–Switzerland) gives it a unique identity compared to most routes. The mix of fast regional services, express trains, international traffic and freight would create a lot of variety in gameplay. I’d honestly love to drive a TER 200 on this line — it would be an amazing experience in TSW. Definitely one of the most interesting European route ideas I’ve seen on the forum
