Hello! Today, I shall be proposing the Lincoln-Leicester line. Running from the cathedral city of Lincoln, through the expansive city of Nottingham toward Leicester. So, without further ado, lets get started! The Line The line runs for 61 miles, 4 miles longer than LGV, between Lincoln and Leicester. We start at the beautiful cathedral city of Lincoln, with its grade 2 listed station building. As we leave, we cross over the busy high street and the River Witham, before heading in between the University buildings. We head left, passing the Signalling centre, and head south west toward Hykeham, where the next station is located. We then leave the suburbs of Lincoln and enter the flat wilderness of the Lincolnshire countryside toward our first major station at Newark Castle. On the way, there is a flat crossing over the ECML, where our train would have to wait if a train is flying down the ECML. Newark Castle is also where one can change for trains to Matlock. We pass through many smaller stations toward the biggest station on the line, Nottingham. Next, we continue to head south west toward Attenbough, where the Matlock trains will head to Derby. We, instead head south, joining the Midland Main Line for the remainder of the journey to Leicester. Stations All major stations are marked in Bold (Major stops will be ones served by local and Intercity) Lincoln Hykeham Swinderby Collingham Newark Castle Rolleston Fiskerton Bleasby Thurgarton Lowdham Burton Joyce Carlton Nottingham Beeston Attenborough East Midlands Parkway Loughborough Barrow upon Soar Sileby Syston Leicester Service Pattern An hourly service is provided between Lincoln and Leicester, with a mixture of all stops(minus Attenborough) or trains calling at Collingham, Newark Castle, Nottingham and then all stops to Leicester. An hourly service between Newark Castle and Matlock (will finish at Attenborough on this line) providing an all stops service. 2 trains a day run from Lincoln to St. Pancras. One in the morning and one in the evening. There are also other intercity services with mixed stopping patterns from Leicester toward Nottingham and Sheffield, with some skipping Loughborough and East Midlands Parkway and some stopping. On Sundays, Lincoln-Leicester trains terminate at Nottingham. Freight could also be provided using the Class 66, taking nuclear waste from Ratcliffe Power Station north and delivering parts or broken down 47s to Falcon Works in Loughborough. Rolling Stock 3 trains should be included Class 153 (runs Lincoln-Leicester and Newark-Matlock) Class 43 (runs Midland Mainline Leicester-Sheffield and possibly Nottingham) Class 222 (runs Midland Mainline Leicester-Nottingham and possibly Sheffield with the 2 a day service from Lincoln) As DLC Class 158 (Subs in for Leicester-Lincoln and Newark-Matlock) Class 156 (Subs in for Leicester-Lincoln and Newark-Matlock) As Layer Class 66 (from ECW) Class 45,47,40,20,33 (Railtour) [maybe have the 47 do a Leicester- Falcon Works run] Pictures Class 222 Class 153 (some have an extra window in the gangway door, some don't) Lincoln Falcon Works at Loughborough Nottingham HST at Leicester Final Note This route is really interesting for fans of both British high speed and slower, relaxing local services. Lots of interesting stations and other bits and bobs scattered down the line as well. Also, there should be a loud clickety-clack noise when trundling down the Lincoln-Nottingham portion of the line! And, to make the timetable more interesting, include the Nottingham terminators just so the line can look a bit more busy.
I like the sound of this! Plus it’s in DTGs route range at the moment. And it’s my local line as well! Could do some ECS moves out of the depot in derby though, love doing those in the early hours of the morning and late at night.
Awesome idea I’d definitely get this as I’ve used this line many times and would be great addition given nothing Midlands based in a tsw game
