How do I pass the location of the game to the editor? On Linux under wine, probably unsupported officially but I wonder if anyone from the community could get it working? Possible solution: Use the same wine/proton binary & prefix as your base game install. The editor probably relies on a registry key to tell it where to look but that's just speculation.
The PC editor, if I recall correctly, is Windows only. Be sure to run the game first before you run the editor too. Matt just confirmed on stream the game needs running every few days so the editor can update content availability.
I don't think you know about the existence of programs like Wine which allows nearly all Windows programs to run on Linux. The exception is when they do baffling things like this that serve no purpose other than to block non-Windows users. It may even be causing problems for Windows users - OP never said what OS he uses.
I have got the editor to launch now, install steam for windows inside a new wine prefix, install and run the base game and then launch the editor with the same wine prefix.
I know Wine, as I utilise it for CrossOver and also for the macOS Game Porting Toolkit. However, the editor requires the use of DirectX 11 and/or 12. I know that there are some challenges for translations between APIs such as Vulkan to DX11/12. I suspect the OS is not Windows as the Title bar UI elements are considerably different to Windows. Based on my technical background and experience of how application compilation works, DTG wouldn't have purposefully blocked non-Windows users, but they would have compiled the game and customised the Windows version of Unreal Engine 4.26 because they work in a Windows environment. DTG have stated before in stream that the editor will work and be supported in Windows. If you manage to get it working via Wine, then that's awesome. However, issues would not receive technical support. Looks like as I was writing this OP managed to get it working within Wine, which is great.
Yes, TSW4 does. The PC editor, without trying it myself I cannot say, as it has not been thoroughly verified and validated. Although now that SprayStealer has got it launched, we will know more in due course.
Just had the same thing happen and I'm on PC Windows. A somewhat bizarre situation, what happened to the editor just checking the registry. And of course the catch now is, TSW4 won't run until it has downloaded all the updates and content (off to hurriedly uncheck most of the DLC). Which I can't stop 'cos it's only showing the 9 DLC in the list...
Could we get some info on how this detection system works so that those of us who are not on Windows can work out how to get it to work? It would help those on Windows who are having trouble as well.
I got it working, here's the simple way to do it. Download Heroic Games Launcher Launch it and log in to your Epic account Download the TSW Editor Open the settings for the editor in Heroic Games Launcher and note down the folder of its Wine prefix - make sure the folder path isn't too long or the editor will give an error Go to /Steam/steamapps/compatdata/2362300/pfx/ and copy the contents to the Wine prefix folder of the editor you noted earlier - you will have to do this every time TSW4 updates Launch the editor Now performance is very poor and there are a lot of graphical glitches with the UI, but you can launch it.
