I visited Liverpool Museum yesterday and (forgive my ignorance to those who find this incredible) but I found out for the first time that Liverpool once had an overhead railway. As soon as I saw the details - which are very well presented at the museum incidentally, and well worth a visit - I had visions of it being a fantastic historical route to add to the TSW line-up. I don't really think there is anything similar currently in the catalogue, and it would offer the opportunity to present a real snapshot of a really old rail set-up that was innovative for its time.... the world's first overhead electric railway and the first to use automatic signalling and colour electric signal lights, for example. I guess the slow speed and short route (it was only a little over 7 miles long) would make it impractical as a TSW route, but the stations looked great and it would offer a truly unique TSW experience. Thought I would throw it in here anyway, not least in case anyone else here was similarly ignorant about the very existences of this incredible railway and wants to find out more about it.
