    I thought I would make a thread to discuss the good and the bad things about the new livery designer. It is a good upgrade to a tool I used a lot in TSW 2/3. The best thing for me is the upgraded layer limit. The new UI also feels nice, and while it may take some getting used to I feel it is better. However, there are a couple of changes I don't like (and don't think make sense). One is the change of the save button into the 'save & exit' button. I'm sure I'll get used to this but... why? All it has added so far is about 15 accidental quit outs. Another thing is the change to the projection slider. This for me is a major issue. The slider has been split into increments of 100, and while this may not seem like a huge problem I find that it is. The old slider allowed for a great degree of control over the projection, while the new system makes painting handrails phenomenally difficult. Now I doubt the majority of players will care about this, but if any of the devs are reading I beg, please un-notch the projection slider. On a controller it has made it almost impossible to paint hand rails, or have any degree over the control. Overall though, I am finding the update to the tool very good

    Tried out Livery Designer today - its telling me I have 300 out of 300 reskins - which is odd because I haven't even started yet! No ability to start a new one.

    I also wanna give my feedback about the Livery designer 2.0. Over al i am happy we have more layers, Undo & Redo, and the custom text now, I've waited for ages to see this. But i also have a few struggles with some of the choices.
    I Play on PC(Steam): And when i open the designer, it's Nice and Clean. But i have the feeling the UI might be a little to big. In TSW3 it was smaller and more to the left witch gave you more screen to watch your design. But the new look does feel nicer.

    Also what isaac47593 mentioned, the save&exit button is kinda annoying, cause you wanna save but then OH you exit. And i know there is also "x" you can press, but i am used to the save button.

    Then what bothers me the most is, the camera and move buttons. The previous system, was perfect to me. You could move the camera when ever you wanted. But now you are stuck the second you edit an object. With is super annoying to me, cause i am a person who moves my camera many times to place an object somewhere, and now i have to move, switch to camera, move camera, switch to move object again... And with that comes also the fact that the keys to move or re seise an object totally changed, I don't know if it is changeable in settings, but if not it bothers me cause what used to be my scale buttons ar now my move buttons (A, D, W, S) and the new (J, L, I, K) for scale. I used to use the arrow keys to move things. (Making a livery used to be easy to me, now it is hard again).

    then When i am in the layers tab, i kinda find it a little less clear to see witch objects i have and witch one i selected. Like the little picture of that object is to small. If i wanna edit an object i select that one but then there is a BIG Edit button what fully covers the picture of the object, witch makes that i am not sure is i have the right object. Also the list length is to short for the 1000 layer range we have now, If i get to 1000 i would have to scroll for an hour to get to my object, and probably miss it because of the small preview picture.

    And i now i swear the last thing:
    Why is Custom text not able to group with other layers? I use groups A lot to make a Logo or brand and than group it so i can copy and paste it to more vehicles. That would be verry nice if it was possible.

    But I have also POSITIVE things... Haha:
    The UI feels Clean, and more complete. I LOVE the fact that we have UNDO REDO, cause that is gonna save SO MUCH time. I never got to 300 layers i think but 1000 is amazing, if i need it once. The custom text is also gonna save MUCH time. As i Said i make a lot of logos, and many have text, and i used to place letter by letter, but now we cant type it... YAY.
    I think If the main move and camera features can change back to what TSW3 had, it would work so much better as a complete thing with this editior, cause now i lose time, pressing wrong buttons, that did something else before. But with that change it would work so much better and FASTER.

    Sorry if this looks negative but, Its just my thoughts... I am pretty exited to, and i can't wait to use the full release

    I used to like making liveries. Now with the buttun remaping I can't. Other than making one with just one uniform color. Ui looks nice though, a bit large for my taste but nice.

    The Same happens to me,
    It says that i have made 700/300 liveries. Is there some kind of workaround?

    Last night I created a livery for the 66. Upon loading into the game, a lot of the layers weren't loading. The base colour and some text items were loading, but half of it was invisible. I double checked my layer order and checked in the livery editor to confirm it had saved correctly (it had)

    I also feel an option to toggle/hide the UI like in photo mode would be nice. The UI blocked my view on several occasions

    I like the new text editor. It's so good to finally have this, as it feels like it's been missing for ages! :D

    I don't like how I now have to change the mode I am in in order to manipulate the camera view. It feels very clunky, whereas before I could just change it without needing to change modes. It feels like a backwards step and is making me hesitant and trying out some new liveries.

    It would be nice to be able to change the background, not just between colours, but in terms of scene, lighting, weather, etc like in the game world. It would help with seeing how different colours look without needing to take the train/loco/wagon/coach out into Free Roam to assess it.

    I'm enjoying using the new editor, the addition of the text entry system has been a huge help and I can't wait to see what I can do with some of my older liveries when the rest of the routes become available in TSW4.

    The addition of more layers and the undo and redo buttons have been great to see added.

    A sticking point for me has been the camera controls being relegated to its own tab while editing layers. The system in use in previous iterations was far more convenient when adjusting layers. The new system really doesn't do it for me.

    The edit button has also caused some degree of confusion as to which layer I have selected in the list because it covers the preview image.

    Another issue I've had is trying to enter the word 'class' into the name of liveries or in the text entry system. It always comes back saying that I can't do it because the profanity filter blocks it. The word really ought to be whitelisted given how prevalent it is in the context of railways.

    Some more fonts for the livery editor might be nice, as well as some other dirt and grime textures to weather rolling stock. The ability to change lighting/environmental settings within the editor to get an idea of how liveries might look would also be appreciated.

    The camera control for Xbox appears to be broken.

    During Early Access, I would navigate to the ‘Camera’ tab using Rb/Lb and the camera could be controlled perfectly with the analogue sticks.

    Since the official release, the left analogue stick does not pan the camera, only the right analogue stick to orbit the train works.

    This has been a bug for ages since TSW3. Generally what seems to cause it is the creation of a new livery. If you restart the game and go to edit a livery instead it normally works

    Doesn’t change anything. Whether I relaunch the game or not, still doesn’t work.

    The text input doesn't recognized - it replaces it with a ?

    This is annoying as small markings on rolling stock need this for their markings, and I dont want to waste squares for this.

    Also, allow us to group text layers.

    1. The camera controls being on their own tab is super inconvenient and pointless. Especially on pc, the keys and mouse used for moving the camera DO NOTHING ELSE so why do you need to switch to the camera tab to move. You used to be able to move the camera however you needed while still being able to move and scale layers. At least give us the option to enable camera controls on or off permanently instead having to keep switching between editing layers and camera. It’s especially frustrating because the camera snaps back to a default view when you select another layer and you then have to change back to camera tab to reset your view then switch back to layer editing.

    2. custom text needs to be groupable. It is a big help after just having individual characters in the previous version, but you still often need a few layers of custom text for a livery eg shadow/3d effects. But you can’t group them so if you need to move it or copy and apply it to another side you have to move each text layer individually

    3. suggestion for future: a way to save a layer or grouped layers as a custom decal. If I’m making a livery for a rake of coaches and there’s 3 different RVD of coaches in the rake, I have to make logos and liveries 3 separate times with no reference to the previous livery so have to hope I get things lined up and logos exactly the same size

    At some point, can you please bring the GP9RM from Oakville to the Livery designer? The chopped nosed GP9 has so much possibilities now with free roam available.

    Feelings on Livery Designer 2.

    As others have already said, having the Cameras under their own tab is annoying and inconvenient; the previous system was better and a lot faster.

    The previous version was set up so that the arrow keys moved the layers around and the ADWS keys increased and reduced the layer size. That system worked for me, as I'm left handed, but the new key mapping doesn't. I think, mind, that maybe the LD keymapping should be customisable; to suit individual player's needs.

    Not directly related to LD2, but I do think the 300 reskin limit is starting to look more than a little miserly now; I have over 230 of them and I'm now having to limit myself, given how close to the meximum number, I am.

    Lastly (and I did raise a ticket about this issue, which is now over a week old), whilst not directly related to LD2, I notice that layers, on the IET, need to be over a certain side to make it all the way to the intermediate car ends and Motor First vehicle is mapped so that the left side layers also appear on the right hand side as well.

    If you're on PC, the Unlimited Layers/SPAD Mod works in TSW4 and will give you 65.5k of layers per vehicle.

    Somewhat disappointing, yes. Options are limited with the class 31, as it's an unrefurbished example, but there's literally dozens of reskinning choices available for the 33.

    We could also do with a version of the WSR class 47, with plated over headcodes and revised Livery Designer layer mapping, as that HiVi Headlight can't have a layer added to it.

    The AI livery usage function isn't handy because it is still random to show in the timetables as TSW3. Another thing is why it can't still use the whole livery in some series of trains or wagons such as ALV Rotem Bi-level Coach and Cab car, etc.
    I hope the pantograph can also change the colours.

    OK, to install the mod, you need to take the TSWLayerSpad exe file and put it into the TS2Prototype\Binaries\Win64\ directory. Tha done, double click on the file and it'll create a backup of the main TrainSimWorld exe file and replace the main one with a modified version that unlocks the Livery Designer layer limit and permits players to pass red signals, without the session ending.

    You will need to install the mod again, every time DTG release an update to TSW4, though.

    Not directly related to Livery Designer 2, but I'm finding the class 801 LD mapping a nightmare to work with. Layers don't go all the way to the ends of the intermediate cars, unless they're made huge - making small details, like door colours and any form of small details from the inner edge of the sliding doors outwards difficult/impossible to do without a workaround. The MF vehicle uses the same mapping on boths side of the vehicle; resulting in all the details on the right hand side being the reverse of the left hand side. Additionally, there are areas where the mapping hasn't been done properly and this leaves artifacts on both sides of the vehicle; at the Driving vehicle end of the car.

    I did raise a ticket about the issues, which has been forgotten/ignored and is still open 10 days after I raised it.

    I am like questioning if they do anything with this feedback, cause the havn't fixed anything. Am I the only one who has not automaticaly transfered al my liveries from TSW3 to TSW4? Mine were all gone, to fix this i need to upload them in creatorclub in TSW3 and download in TSW4, PROBLEM -> THey are messed up, my text is like gone on liveries, and some trains are the layers broken. I tried to contact game support, like more then a week ago, didn't answer... I like love and hate TSW4 at the same time because of this. Cause like how am i supposed to use my old liveries, whitout fully re do them.

    Also our feedback here, what is accually pretty the same, we all share the same struggles, They like ignore it i guess. Witch is sad, but nothing to do about it. :(

    Agreed! While the North American railroad fans seem to be a miniscule percentage of your market share, we would all be eternally greatful to have that in the livery editor!

    Here's my two cents.
    The Pros:
    -new undo button
    -1000 Layers
    -Type-able Text options
    these are all great additions :)

    The Cons:
    -The UI is an absolute disaster, and incredibly hard to get used to since my muscle memory is very hardwired for the old one
    -The previous liveries glitch like crazy when you attempt to edit them in Livery Editor 2.0

    If we could just get the bugs worked out, and just work those new features into the old TSW2 and 3 UI, I'd be immensely grateful!

    Also, Ditto on the GP9 from Oakville also being available in the editor. I'd love to work my weathering magic on one of those

    Much appreciated, Alex. Do you know what the plan is, with regards to that vehicle where the same mapping is used on both sides of it? I notice there's also a number of artifacts, as well; see image for details.

    my suggestions:
    1. some sort of SNAP function (snap to line/grid or sth) - right now aligning stuff with any sort of straight line, or one shape with another when creating complex shapes, is a huge pain in the @@@ (also aligning sth in the dead center between to points/lines)
    2. curves and fill in functions - right now creating any sort of curve or complex shape is a pain, not to mention changing color - when I want to change a color of a complex shape, I have to ungroup it and re-color every single shape; as for complex shapes, you have to labor with putting together many different simple shapes when you could just create a line/curve and work with it :)
    3. save/transfer shape - like the other day when I was doing this bad boy:

    you couldnt believe how much superpain it was... but I managed to do it for my cab car... and then found out I also wanted to do it on a different loco... and had to do it all from scratch... so anything that allows me to transfer certain assets (?) among liveries, would be greatly appreciated :)

    thats what I can think of from the top of my head

    Is there any reason for the BR arrows logo and the older BR Lion totem logo not being available in Livery Designer?
    It seems very strange that we have to manually create these two when they are already freely available in-game on other locos.
    Would it be that hard to do? If you could add these two logos then I'm sure that you would get a great deal of thanks from creators.

    Is it possible to edit shorter length Bakerloo line trains using Livery Editor? At the moment we seem to only have 7 car formations to choose from yet, in-game, you can access both 3-car and 4-car units if you know how to. See screenshot below (this was spawned as a 3-car unit and not simply uncoupled from a 7-car).

    The reason for asking is that I am currently making some VECTIS look-a-like units for IOW and would like to run BR Blue, Blue/Grey and NSE units if possible and, whilst a 7 car unit is handy in this instance, I would like to be able to livery shorter formations too. (I would also like to be able to recreate the 5-car units that ran for a time). Any tips would be helpful. Thanks.

    Starting with me! I've repeatedly asked for the BR Lion & Wheel emblem to be included in Livery Designer, so that I can finish off my repaint of D200 (the carriage version would be nice too), but never got an answer.

    If you're on PC, look for the Livery Editor Logo Pack 1.6; that comes with the "arrows of indecision".

    WHERE ARE MY LIVERIES?

    Replica skins I spent dozens of hours on each, gone! I mean, they aren't lost, they still appear in LD-- but in timetable mode, they're nowhere to be found. Under "personal" selections for their respective locos, there's nothing.

    Is it possible to view Liveries files on PC?

    I have had a problem with my system whereby certain of my livery files aren't recognised by the game. However they ARE recognised if I roll back to an earlier back-up. (However doing this means I 'lose' any work that I have created in December and January). Where are TSW4 livery files stored and is it possible to move then about on PC so that I can combine my back-ups. Thanks.

    Example. This 'Heritage' IOW mock-up can be selected if I roll back to November but isn't available if I revert to my 'today' system. So I would like to be able to export (move) the 'old' file and place it in my 'current' system. The relevant file must be on my system but I can't view it.

    I'd really like to see the camera view remain where is when you go to add a new shape. I hate hate hate how the camera resets EVERY time you place a square or a circle or whatever.

    or when you cant move the camera while you are in the shape, you have to use keys to get to the option and then you can move camera...

    So we got option to enable or disable livery showing on AI trains, but what I'm still missing is to select how often it should show up, I have plenty of liveries for class 66 but still most of the time find EWS passing by me. A simple slider to set propability of spawn would be welcome feature.

    ...CAMERA. CONTROLS. ARE. ANNOYING. AS . HELL...that typing style doesnt mean anything annnyways i wloud want for like making consists WITHIN the designer [of the same train not custom] and for there to be an option to add in a station[with surroudings] so you can preview how it looks
