I am new to Train sim world. On a GP38-2 locomotive used for the Horseshoe curve. I can find the "cut out" valve, but not the MU-2A Valve. Thanks for any assistance

I might be wrong, but it's normally on the bottom left of the control stand below the brake handles.

It's tough to find, in fact IIRC on the GP38 you can't even see it from the seat. Stand up and look at the bottom of the brake stand near the floor. Once you have found it that way a couple of times, you'll be able to find it blind from the seat.

Unfortunately, I could find no handle below the brake hands. I could find the cut-out controller (freight/passenger) but not the MU-2A Valve.

Note that the HSC GP38-2 is a bit buggy - not a big deal if you know what to do.

When you start a service with multiple locos, first thing you want to do is press Banking Comm ON.

    2024-03-02 17_11_46-Train Sim World 4®.png

Set up your loco now (insert reverser, switch EngRun, GenField, Ctrl+Fuelpump ON, MU-2A to "Lead or Dead", Brake Cutout valve to "Freight", lights on. Fully apply the independent brake, release the autobrake and put the throttle to Notch 2 for the air compressor to fill the brakepipe (reverser neutral).

Whilst the brakepipe is being charged, go to the other locos - you will notice a hissing sound. This is a bug that will lead to braking issues if not addressed. You need to switch the MU-2A valve of each MU'd loco to "Lead" and back to "Trail 6 or 26", and the hissing will vanish. The Independent brakes are now correctly setup for MU and controlled by the leading loco.

The DPU if present is not affected by the bug. It'll be correctly set up by Banking Comm. (Though you must set the rear headlight to "Dim" yourself...)

EDIT: Something wrong still, the DPU lead does not have the autobrake in "Handle Off" - you must do that yourself (best to use the "3" camera, press twice to go to consist end, you can open the window and operate the controls). The DPU lead must be Cut Out, HandleOff, Indy in Release and MU2A to "Lead or Dead".
