Mannheim Kaiserslautern will come without any new rolling stock. A lot of people mentioned their disappointment with that. I wonder if DTG might plan a loco DLC instead at a later point in time. So, which loco DLC would make sense for the route? And what kind of service pattern does that loco/train follow?
So the thing is: The route was set back in 2014. Until then the rolling stock we have was realistic- but in 2014 many services also swapped to the new SÜWEX Flirt 3. This one would be perfect for this route and a completely new train! Another good one would be the TGV Euroduplex equipped with Pzb for the routes to Germany. Apart from that: Literally ANY freight locomotive seen in Germany in the 21st century except Vectron and Eurodual. The following ones would be perfect: Br185.1, Br150, Br151, Br152(!!!), Br189, Br181, Br140 A note on the side: I think it’s actually pretty unrealistic to get a loco DLC for this route. The reason is that DTG set this route back in time when the Süwex wasn’t around yet. This way they didn’t have to make a whole new train and just use existing stock. We don’t know whether this was done due to licensing issues or because they didn’t want to, but here we are. Now bringing in any new rolling stock which you’d have to pay for again, would make a lot of people very upset I guess- and I think DTG knows that. My honest guess is: The loco artists that should have made the loco for the German route were set to make the Thomas the tank rolling stock. That way DTG could make a new route for Germany while not making a new loco- since “we have all the rolling stock the route has”. There is a thread where this topic was already discussed a little bit and I think it should continue to raise awareness how important it is to bring new rolling stock- especially when it’s the only German route on the roadmap!
