Hi there. Have done a search but couldn't find anything. On the London to Brighton express, stopping at Gatwick, I get 3 miles from Brighton then hit a red, which doesn't change. Looking at the route view (key 9) I can see a train at a red ahead, another ahead of him at a red and then one stationary at a green. Coming the other way, a train leaves Brighton and then stops at a red, with nothing ahead of it. Only thing I can think of is that I made a save at Gatwick. Anyone else experienced this? Thanks Peter
Hello, I know some of the class 166 services are causing problems, it may be one of those. I have had them get stuck at Redhill. One going to Reigate then off map to Reading, it wouldn't move despite the green signal which caused a Victoria to Reigate service to get stuck at a red signal and trains to back up. I believe DTG are aware of the class 166 issues. This might not be the problem you are having but the class 166 does go through Gatwick.
Surprised you couldn't find any reference with a search as this has been discussed at length. Virtually impossible to finish a run on BML from a saved game as it falls down every time. The service pattern and signalling complexity seems beyond the ability of the game save mechanism to cope. You pretty much have to plan to complete the run in one go. It is the worst of the TSW routes in that respect. DTG very much aware of this but seem to be unable to come up with a solution.
They have just put something on the roadmap about fixing the red signal issues so hopefully it might be resolved soon.
I'll check that out, but it's about b....y time 'n all! Thinking about it, given the likely complexity of the steam route probably a prerequisite is a save system overhaul.
So here is a simple solution for some reds: 1. If you encounter a red, open the track map and see whether you have a designed path for your train (its the blue line on the track). If you dont see a line: Wait. Just wait. It takes up to 10 minutes until the dispatcher assigns a path to your train and the signals do work then. Same is also for the freight services on Dresden-Chemnitz. 2. If you have a blue line but the signal stays red, wait at least for 10 minutes because that is the "normal" waiting time. If you wait longer, open the track map and look whether AI trains are standing at platforms or crossing your route. 3. Try to avoid saving.
Thanks to all for your help. I'll try again with no saves. The services in front are just not moving, even with the green. A path shows to the end. Peter
