Hey, I noticed that London Commuter is on sale (45% off with PlayStation Plus). I’m just wondering if the route is worth a purchase. I know the route experienced some performance issues when it was released back in 2021 but have they been resolved now? I am playing on PS5.
While it was unplayable on my PS4 Slim, it runs quite decently and smooth on PS5 (TSW2). The usual stutter here and there, but that's a feature already. If you're into commuter with heavy traffic, this is the route. Quite the mayhem going on around London...
I would for that deal. You get the full timetable on PS5 IIRC and if you have the layers even better. FPS takes a hit near London but the timetable is so amazing compared to anything else and there are always things to do no matter how much time you have.
If you like Electrostars, definitely yes as they form 99.9% of the driveable services on the route. Main appeal is the timetable which really brings out the experience of a busy main line.
You get additional layers from gwe, ecw, 313, wsr and sehs. Ai only 43 and 465. Static 09 at Brighton which you need wsr for. 375, 166, 66 are drivable.
it's worth that tbf as it is a decent route, beware though as I own it on ps4 and it does seem to struggle to run smoothly at times, TSW3 seems to make my console really work hard in general but for the most part the game runs pretty smoothly.
IMHO it is well worth paying full price for it, so with the discount there isnt any kind of doubt. Go get it! Note: I play on PC with most layers, but I dont think PS5 will be much different.
Even at full price, London Brighton is one of the standout routes in TSW. It should be in every player's library.
The only criticism I have with it is the endless amount of Electrostars but the timetable makes up for that and does make me go back to it so I would say it would be well worth it.
For me, I think it's the best route. There are so many layers, and a superb timetable. DTG need to seriously think about using it as their benchmark.
Absolutely agree with this - and because of its legendary status in TSW, DTG certainly should have London Commuter upgraded with TOD 4 lighting as a priority, namely with the 700 too!
I've got it with the rush hour edition. I play on Xbox S (TSW2) and don't have any issues with it. Al tough UK routes are not my favourite this route is quite fun to drive. You can do longer runs with a few stops with the Gatwick Express or either do some commuter with Southern with lots of stops. More than 20 stations, 80km/50miles to drive and lots of services. The trains (Electrostarts) are easy to drive, and that's actually my only complaint that there isn't much variety in train types. So If you like UK routes and busy commuter than this one is definitely a good one.
I just grabbed it in the sale for the PS5 version. Yes it’s Electrostar but hopefully look and sound better on the big screen!
My only caveat having had a quick run down from Victoria to Gatwick, is that the route on PS5 suffers from the same horrid regular stutters and accompanying sound drop that the PC version does. DTG really need to take an in depth look at the cause of this and try and fix it - whether a core code issue or something route specific. But otherwise, as I expected, once you get past East Croydon and can open up to 90 MPH it's a much more satisfying Electrostar experience than the stop start of SEHS and that interminable slow grind through Strood and Rochester.
I would recommend London Brighton Mainline probably possibly the most of all routes, especially if you have latest Gen console and SEHS. I can’t speak for last Gen (GWE helps the recommendation aswell)
