London Euston to Birmingham New Street is an intercity line feeding passengers to and from the British Capital and Birmingham. This 101 Mile or 163 km route usually takes between 1 hour and 20 minutes to 2 hours 20 minutes, and is operated by Avanti West Coast (AWC) and West Midlands Trains (WMT), stopping at a variety of stations along the way, including Bletchley, famous for Bletchley Park where the German Enigma code was broken. Stations served on this route are as follows: London Euston Leighton Buzzard Bletchley Milton Keynes Central Wolverton Northhampton Long Buckby Rugby Coventry Canley Tile Hill Berkswell Hampton-in-Arden Birmingham International Marston Green Lea Hall Stetchford Adderly Park Birmingham New Street Avanti West Coast does not usually stop at all stations, while West Midlands Trains run all-stop services. Train sets operated on this include: Class 221 Super Voyager (AWC) Class 319 (WMT) (This particular set operates between London Euston and Northhampton) Class 350 (WMT) Class 390 Pendolino (AWC)
London to Birmingham is something like 115 miles which even with the longer routes we are seeing for TSW3 is probably still too long for the game. London to Rugby could be a possibility but for me the interesting period would be BR Classic with AC electric locos (Class 81 - 87) and Class 310 EMU's on the locals.
According to trainline (yes I did google it) it is about 101 miles. And even then, if it were 115 Miles that is still shorter than the longest route coming in TSW3.
Trainline is wrong. Plus the German route in TSW3 has much of it's mileage rural or in tunnel. The WCML is a fairly complex network of trackage and passes through a considerable number of urban areas too. Not saying it wouldn't be good, but don't hold your breath.
Yeah, that maybe so with the WCML line, however I think many like myself would rather start getting full routes similar to the London Commuter back in TSW2, and less part routes like the Great Western Railway, so I don't think that even this route is "too long" for the game.
The complexity might be the big Daventry Container Yard where Class 90 & 92 locomotives drop the FKA Container flats off. Wilsden Royal Mail depot Start and end point of another train Sim classic train the Class 325 Mail train. Still shorter than Schnellfahrstrecke Hannover Kassel Würzburg by 14 mi
Indeed because to serve there, you would need to put in the Northampton Loop from Roade Cutting to Hillmorton adding another 25 miles and the complex layout at Northampton.
This is why I'm suggesting the passenger portion of that route. Still very possible within the frame of the game with the new HST route coming in TSW3.
But you can't ignore freight on any part of the WCML regardless of era. Just look at the huge yards at Willesden with traffic coming and going day and night!
I think he means the German route of which a high proportion is in tunnel or rural areas and not much in the way of rail hubs along the way.
Not too long for the game at all, they did it with Train Simulator, so it can be done in TSW3 but Dovetail will only make short routes.
This, they really need to start making the routes longer, even if it means putting the price of the DLC up by £10 or £20.
