London Overground Route Release Predictions

My prediction is that the route will come out In March what's yours

 

Mid-Late March for the Overground route, April if it’s behind.

Looking at the December 2023 roadmap it stated that the US route and the UK route would come in 0-3 months (early / mid Dec - early / mid March?).

The assumption is that the US route is the LIRR2 (now postponed), and the UK route is the Goblin line. Hopefully that would mean the latest it'd come would be early / mid March.

Interesting that the German route (Bahnstrecke Salzburg – Rosenheim) has overtaken both the US and the UK routes, considering that it was supposed to be 4-6 months from December.



All these are speculation on my part, no insider information!

 

Since BSR is coming next week a mid March release makes the most sense. It’s a fairly small route so I can’t imagine what could go wrong that would cause a delay

Nah in all honesty I think I overestimated given DTG’s record of get it out the door quick.

They are either going to aim for just before the next Steam sale has people keeping their money back for that, or just after.
Either way, unless it’s at a budget price of £17.99 or something, can’t see me rushing to buy this.

I'll say Easter weekend, for two reasons.

1. DTG usually have an Easter sale, so this hype would boost sales.

2. Everybody is off work / off school for the Easter holidays, so people are more likely to be buying stuff online out of boredom.... Dropping a route DLC while people are chained to their PC or console will increase impulse purchases.

EDIT:

3. DTG staff won't be working over Easter, so if the forums get spammed with angry day 1 bug threads, nobody will have to deal with the fallout until after the holidays.

 

I hope they make it cheaper than normal given how short it is. £29.99 would seem excessive, £24.99 is more reasonable. £15.99 would probably be the max I was willing to pay given the length, but this may be a sale price. I agree that DTG is much more likely to release around the £24.99 mark.

 

If DTG charge £9.99 for a wagon reskin pack DLC, and £11.99 for a single loco DLC, I wouldn't hold my breath hoping for a £15.99 new route.

 

Certainly not for launch price, but I'm hoping it may pop up as a sale price. Think I picked up SEHS for less than £10 in a sale for example.

 

Tbh then actually, Goblin should be even less as SEHS is much longer. Maybe £6 sale price? Idk, starting to think I'm probably being unrealistic now.

I already predicted this ages ago but there's now a dedicated thread for predictions why not shoot my prediction here I predicted 12th March, I feel like that's a reasonable time

 

Apart from the audio fixes mentioned by Matt, it depends on how much additional work TfL will expect DTG to complete as part of their official licence, in lieu of the recent Suffragette Line announcement, such as modification of station signage assets, collectable maps, on-board train maps and possibly even the colour / style of the moquettes / seats.

 

It'll have probably been in the license that the name of the line is changing.

 

They won’t necessarily have to alter any textures and assets etc. The route could be set in a certain year before the new name was introduced, and the name is simply used in marketing only. Besides, I’m not sure if there’s even a proper plan for all the new branding in real life yet. I’d rather have a 100% accurate version of the route set a year or so ago than a half-accurate one set in the near future.

They haven’t announced a preview stream for next week so I think that date is off the table.

Oh come on. There are plenty of very serious, interesting topics on this forum. Why can't there be a less serious thread for a bit of social interaction? That's what forums are for, they are online meeting places, not all interactions in life are serious.

Seeing as it was mentioned by DTG on the Q&A stream that Goblin would release soon after Rosenheim which came yesterday, I’m predicting that we’ll see the release of Goblin Line within the next two weeks.
