The Watford DC line (Line A) is a London Overground suburban line between Euston in downtown London to Watford Junction in Watford itself. The line runs beside the West Coast Main Line (WCML) for most of its length. The London Underground Bakerloo line (which is currently now on TSW) shares the section of the line from Queen’s Park to Harrow & Wealdstone (ten stations). The current rolling stock used on this line are: Class 710 “Aventras” made by Bombardier. Replacing Class 378 (Captialstar), which is now on the Goblin Line. The “DC” in the title refers to line being electrified using direct current. This was done in the early twentieth century with conductor rails to be compatible with the four-rail system used by the Underground and, at the time, the North London Line; currently, the line uses a third rail system, with a fourth rail available on the section shared with the Bakerloo line. By contrast, the WCML uses overhead alternating current. The route started in 1912 called the London & Northwestern Railway between Camden to Watford to provide additional suburban capacity and more outer-suburban services running non-stop to Euston. It incorporated part of the LNWR Rickmansworth branch (formerly the Watford & Rickmansworth Railway) between Watford Junction & Watford High Street Junction, and part of the original slow main line between Queen’s Park & South Hampstead stations; two single-track tunnels take the line from South Hampstead to Camden, whence the line reaches Euston station by the main-line tracks. Prior to 1912, at which time the entire route was finally electrified, services were steam operated. Although the operation of the line is mostly self-contained, connections at Watford Junction & Camden allow other trains onto it, a facility used occasionally with trains diverted from the West Coast Main Line (WCML) should an alternative diversionary route be not available. There are nineteen stations on that route. Would be better as part of a larger WCML South, as having the adjacent WCML and London Euston devoid of any traffic would be poor. Much rather we had Class 710 layers added onto the Bakerloo line, as that already covers half of the Watford DC line. I suspect the Goblin line will become the only London Overground route in-game for at least a good few years.
I hope we do receive another London Overground route. I would have preferred another London Overground route rather than the Goblin as that is my least favourite however I appreciate the kindness and devotion of those working for Dovetail so I can hardly complain. I appreciate the help of Alex from Dovetail who responded to my query about a possible new feature.
To be honest, it would be best that DTG extend the Bakerloo line to Watford Junction and London Euston for the Watford DC line, which makes sense so the route isn't too linear and if NLL gets added you could have Southern Services from Clapham or East Croydon to Watford Junction
I would love the North London Line. I was going to add that the 710's aventras run on the Watford DC line aswell as the NLL.
I am afraid that announcements will not feature on the Goblin at least for now however they attempted it which was promising
This would be another great addition to TSM4. This time with a truly West London to Central London line. It all goes towards my idea of having a London Underground game with overground add-on’s. Make it truly immersive as well, it’ll be a number one best selling game.
I would love a London Underground game. If not DTG then I hope another company makes one. We need more Underground routes and you are right about the popularity
finlayl122528 I think I’ve said it before, but if I knew how to code, then I’d have a go at making a sim of my own. But I’m arty-farty, so I’d only be good for designing stuff for print! I’d have a go at drawing the rolling stock.
It is ashame that coding is rather difficult otherwise we would not need to go through the hassle of posting on forums. I do like having discussions with the community though.
Snap. It would be good to get feedback from Dovetail regarding our suggestions. I’d like to think the makers would hear our proposals and evaluate to pros and cons.
They rarely respond to post. I do wonder whether they read them. I am sure that the majority of time they just come up with their on ideas.
I watched the Spring update and they said they do read the forums, that we can get in touch with them via them.
I might tag them for my london underground threads. I need them to understand how much London Underground would be appreciated and I need the support of you guys.
If I bring back up my Central line thread. I will include details and could you post back on it. I will do that tomorrow or possibly now.
I'd just love DTG to produce and publish a London Underground Sim. They can definitely do it, and they've proven their abilities with the Bakerloo Line. With a dedicated team of coders, game engine builders, photographers, designers, sound designers, play testers, lighting designers and a director - to make this dream come true would be awesome. Make it immersive, even more than before. With detailed stations, sounds, guard mode, announcer mode, operations room mode (as well as driving and even second driving) as well as a free roam mode. Basically take TSW4 and use the Unreal Engine - add more modes to the game, to run concurrently with the existing game and live a life working on the London Underground. It can be done, far harder coding has been done for other sims. It might take five years of production, but it would be totally worth it and the financial reward on core game sales would cover all production costs and more - such is the global demand for a game like this. Then there's always add-on's... what about an add-on for the hidden stations of the London Underground? Explore the Wartime Train Networks? The Post Office train line? All the various train stocks that go with these add-on's plus train stocks through history? The game could even be a working project between Dovetail Games, TFL and the Transport Museum. How cool would that be? All the reference material and knowledge combined with the skill of DTG? That's a dream team.
Incredible combination If there get this in the game together with part of the WCML South and layers of the Bakerloo Line. Especially a part of the Watford DC line already exists on the Bakerloo Line. As the new class 710 soon also, underway on the Gospel Oak – Barking Riverside line. a Class 350 Desiro for regular train services from London Euston not to mention every new possibility, i'm really looking forward to this if it ever comes into development. Really a excellent suggestion.
Would prefer to see this in the Class 501 era, throw in the section across the NLL to Broad Street and Bakerloo 1938 stock running through to Watford Jn oh and the Croxley Green branch - perfect.
I would like this to be set in the modern day but that is just my personal preference. They are already making the Aventra Class 710's and would be a great add on to the Overground collection
