The East Coast mainline is already present in the game in the form of Doncaster - Peterborough, which is the reasoning behind my suggestion, as a logical continuation of the route. The East Coast Mainline south is a 76 mile route that is located in the south east of england, that runs from London Kings Cross in the heart of London; all the way to Peterborough in Cambridgeshire. The route is served by LNER, Hull Trains, Grand Central, Lumo, Thameslink and Great Northern. The East Coast mainline has 24 intermediate stations served mainly by thameslink and great northern with LNER services calling at only Stevenage along the way. They are the high speed intercity operators on this route along with Hull Trains, Lumo and Grand central, with thameslink and great northern running slow and semi fast services. Units I think should come with the route LNER Class 801(from Doncaster-Pboro) BR Class 700/1 and 700/0 (from loco dlc) View attachment 153122 Class 387 (from BML but reskinned with the GN livery) Class 717 (new unit) And a class 91 for loco dlc in the future. Branches I think should come with the route is the Moorgate branch, a short extension from Finsbury Park to Moorgate for the 717s to use their dual functionality functions.
I think a lot of people would explode if the new train was 717 rubbish rather than the much wanted 91
I agree a 91 would be brilliant but no 717 would mean many metro services left out and several stations having no services whatsoever.
If the current ECML gets the 91 as a DLC, then the 717 could be the new train for this section. That way, given DTG only do 1 new train per route, the Class 717 takes that spot, and everything else layers on from the previous one. A way to please everybody then
Now this is the most dull section of the route which I always said I wouldn't particularly like to see in the game, but after driving DON to PBO in the sim it feels incredibly strange ending at Peterborough and so I would like to see this section added, along with York ideally. Again I would prefer to see the route come with a 91 or 800 rather than a 717, but they are what GN use for their inner commuter runs and some people do prefer these runs so fair enough.
more kinda highspeed UK? why not... and more chances to drive 387? fkk yeah, count me in... 387s are waaaay underused
If this were to come I think a DLC connecting the Brighton Mainline to the East Coast Main South (your suggestion) for Thameslink services along the core and maybe they could add ATO to the core section for realism
It would definitely need plenty of local services. A simple extension of the ECML high-speed borefest we have now would be a hard no for me.
This would require remodelling the Class to pre Southern configuration to include the necessary 25kv AC pantograph equipment for use on the route. This was removed IRL before transfer to Southern as they only required the 750v DC third rail equipment and had no need for the dual voltage capability.
