About The London, Tilbury and Southend line, also known as Essex Thameside, is a commuter railway line on the British railway system. It connects Fenchurch Street station, in central London, with destinations in east London and Essex, including Barking, Upminster, Basildon, Grays, Tilbury, Southend and Shoeburyness. Its main users are commuters travelling to and from London, particularly the City of London which is served by Fenchurch Street, and areas in east London including the Docklands financial district via London Underground and Docklands Light Railway connections at Limehouse and West Ham. The line is also heavily used by leisure travellers, as it and its branches serve a number of seaside resorts, shopping areas and countryside destinations. Additionally, the Tilbury Loop portion of the route provides an artery for freight traffic to and from Dagenham Dock and the Tilbury and London Gateway ports. Freight traffic can also travel further using the connection to the Gospel Oak to Barking line and the Great Eastern Main Line at Forest Gate Junction, allowing access to other main routes. There are 26 stations, line length is 39.5 mi (63.6 km). Rollingstock Passenger Class 302 Class 305 Class 308 Class 310 Class 312 Freight Class 56 Class 59 Class 90
While I would love to see this, my local line, in game, realistically it would be modern. Otherwise it would be wasting the modern layering (SEHS and Suffragette) and would need a redesign of the stretch east of Barking that's already been modelled. Also, to include West Ham station the setting would have to be specifically 1999. By then, the rolling stock would only have been 310s and 312s. Not entirely all of the stock you list worked on LTS anyway.
Given its only around 40 miles and fairly self-contained, this line needs to be full length to make it appeal to me. Although, yeah, modern era makes sense purely for layering purposes.
Love the concept but as others said, this would be amazing with the modern timeline making use of existing rolling stock and station models will make this route appeal more and possibly decrease project time. (if ever made in the first place)
I believe that it does need to be set in the modern and I would only play it if it was modern. The route would have loads of potential and they do need to add layering to Barking station as it is extremely empty
I love the class 720 which would only really need a few tweaks from the Aventras used on the Suffragette line. I don't know whether we are getting a roadmap this month but I believe that this route may feature in the game
I've said many times before, I'll take this route in any post-Electrification era. My favourite 2003 - Classes 312 and 357, D stock on the District, loads of freight options too. What I think DTG and TSW players would prefer is modern with 357 and 720. I don't think we'd get an S-stock just for a portion of a route though. Either way, as I've said countless times. It's a perfect little network with varied passenger workings 2 different EMUs to drive and a whole load of freight possibilities. I'd even take a compromise of the new Rivet "D Stock" if the Bow Road-Upminster leg of the District was included.
While it would be easier to make this route in the modern era I would still prefer it set in the era I suggested (nothing to do with Nostalgia this is set before my time). If it was made by DTG, it would probably be made in the modern era with class 357 and 720 for passenger services while the class 66 and 70 handle freight. If made by JT we know it will be good and more likely set in the era suggested.
I still think modern day would be better. Route hopping at Barking for the Suffragette line would be cool and I think it would be a great game to play. Day one purchase for me as I love this route
