I believe the longest route from start to end is LGV Mediterranee, which is somewhere around 59 miles (95 kilometers). The longest route in terms of total trackage is Sherman Hill, which is somewhere around 70 miles. The mainline is about 58 miles, but it includes an extra line between Hermosa and Laramie to add those extra miles.
In Terms of Distance Top 4 are Sherman Hill 76mi (122 km) Clinchfield 63 mi (101km) LGV 58 mi (93 km) Riesa-Dresden 57.16 mi (92 km)
I have not downloaded and tested any of those routes but in the meantime, I have another question that deals with distance. How come the distance travelled is more than the distance that it says that I have to go? For example... #1 do the following, in the scenario editor for Sand Patch grade: a) Set the start point to Rockwood Main West No2 b) Set the end point to Cumberland Receiving Yard Track 3. c) And set any train that you want to. This can mean off the rails. #2 At the start point I saw it reported 30 miles to the end point. #3 But when I reached the end point, it reported that drove the 1972 Mark 2 Stock 51.64 miles. And I might add that I did NOT walk to the other end of the train and or move it backworks. Please and thank you
I’m pretty sure it’s 30 miles as the crow flies, and then the 51 miles was actual track distance travelled All the markers are as the crow flies. Not too noticeable for signals and stopping services, but long distance freight on a twisty route, very noticeable
I kind of thought it would be that. Considering that, the longest routes for this game still stands as is? ex... Sherman Hill 76mi (122 km) Clinchfield 63 mi (101km) LGV 58 mi (93 km) Riesa-Dresden 57.16 mi (92 km) --- Is that the as the crow flies or the distance that the train travels for those top four routes? Please and thank you
Yes, those miles are actual trackage (some are combined lines). LGV for example IS 58 miles end to end, however Sherman Hill has 2 lines that are combined into one large mileage there, it’s actually 58miles end to end, plus a 20 miles of extra trackage in bypass & branch offs. The distance markers don’t take trackage into account, only your position and the end position.
If your asking for the longest driveable mileage of a route including branchlines, than yes If your looking for the longest services, you can drive on a single train, it would be: 1. LGV 57,87 miles/93,14 km 2. SPG 52,12 miles/83,88 km 3. SEHS 51 miles/82,1 km * 4. LBN 50,72 miles/81,63 km 5 SMH 50 miles/80,47 km ** 6. DCZ 49,21 miles/79,19 km 7. SFJ 46,73 miles/75,20 km 8. IoW 8,5 miles/13,7 km* * only raw measures, longest service could be different ** raw distance for travelling by car *** forgot the turn-around loop at GCT, longest service could be somewhat about a mile longer.
The mileage is how the crow flys you can see this clearly on Sand Patch Grade and at the top of Ruhr Sieg Nord going onto the Freight line and into Hagen Yard where it goes from about 3 km distance to go to over 5km's to go. Before reaching your destination in the yard. Hentis
