Currently in a 14 long train of the Scotsman and coaches, on a 0.3-0.5% uphill, reverser at 40 and regulator at 80 Quite stuck at getting higher than 56mph, is this normal ? What would make it go quicker ?
50 Reverser and 50 Regulator. Is for some reason the best position to be in like 99% of the time. Just stick it at that, and leave it.
Scotsman's physics seem to be not right at all and so I cannot even give advice here, but from what I have seen you can leave her regulator wide open and at 50% cut off and still produce steam whilst touching 100mph. Certainly not something that would be done in real life whether it was due to running out of steam or tearing the valve gear to shreds, whichever happened first.
