The L.A. string of pearls are the heavy jets lined up for LAX against the prevailing winds off the Pacific along the San Gabriel Mountains. They stretch back to where they made their turn west when north of San Bernadino and descending over the mountains. L.A. usually has a morning Marine Layer along the coast until sometime between noon and 2PM ( 14.00h ) as a low blanket of cloud running from San Diego ALMOST up to Santa Barbara. We say that it burns off to leave the coastal beach towns at 75 F. no matter how it is baking outside Union Station closer to downtown L.A. But I never speak for Orange County itself. Well I suspect it’s probably referring to how LA should appear as opposed to how it does, at certain times of the day. But seems a bit cryptic rather than just coming out and saying…
