Route Length: ~105 miles Rolling Stock: GP9 and/or SW9 Gameplay: Passenger services, road freight, ferry loading/unloading Scenery: Large freight yard, pine forests, countryside, rivers, small towns, coastal scenery, industrial waterfront Licenses: CSX, for Chesapeake & Ohio branding Time Period: Between 1960's and 1980's Similar Add-ons: None Why this route: This would be a fascinating historical route set in 1960's Michigan, featuring the Chesapeake & Ohio Railway, spanning a roughly 105 mile stretch from Grand Rapids, to the ferry port at Ludington. It would feature a wide variety of services, such as heavy freight from Wyoming Yard to Ludington, serving industries such as chemical plants, furniture factories and agriculture, yard switching at Wyoming Yard and Ludington, and passenger services (these would require a different loco such as an E7 and passenger coaches). A journey along the route would begin at the bustling gritty Wyoming Yard with constant switching activities, featuring infrastructure like a roundhouse, coaling tower, and repair facilities. The route would then proceed through scenery such as forests and small towns of Michigan and the Pere Marquette River, before finally ending up at the star of the route, the Lake Michigan car ferries at Ludington. You would have the unique opportunity to shunt freight wagons onto a ferry using switchers. Other Era Options: 1970's - mainly freight services. Chessie System liveries could be included. Included loco could be a GP38 or GP40. 1980's - decline of the railroad, with a more run down feel. Included loco could be a SD40-2.
