    Hi!

I am choosing between salzburg rosenheim and the lugewidsbahn (idk if I spell it good)
lugewidsbahn has more loco's,while salzburg rosenheim layers my favoriite 1116.
But I also look at peformance, because semmeringbahn givess me like 11 fps at some points whil my other routes are always above 25.
And, does the ICE 3 from lugewidsbahn layer nahverkher dresden?

tell me which route is better please

    greets!

I have no personal preference towards either route. Only thing I can think of is that Ludwigsbahn looks a bit better because it's a new (TSW5) route. Both routes have the same look and feel to me, and the same mix of services.

The ICE3 from this DLC will not layer onto Dresden, you need the ICE 3M from Köln-Aachen for that.

Sounds to me that the use of the OBB 1116 will be the deciding factor for you....

I haven’t bought Ludwig but feedback and reviews so far are fairly negative. Seems to have a lot of niggling quality issues. Salzburg to Rosenheim is fairly solid and the 111 is a nice loco to drive. So purely based on that, I would say go for the latter.

There hasn't been a patch for Ludwigsbahn yet, so currently, Salzburg - Rosenheim is higher quality.

However, I feel like it is a bit of a one-trick pony since there's no RB and the IC services aren't much faster than the RE. It does that one thing very well though, to be fair.

Ludwigsbahn has a lot more stations, so if you like stopping services, or want more variety (S-Bahn stoppers, faster long-distance trains, some good DMU services as well), it's the one to get.

I'd also consider waiting just a bit since Festival of Rail is starting soon, and usually accompanied by a sale. Salzburg is the older route, so it will probably get a bigger discount than Ludwigsbahn.

Salzburg-Rosenheim is a million times more interesting than Ludwigsbahn in my opinion. Plus, if you love the 1116 you'll have lots of freight plus a couple of passenger services with it too.

If, like me, you are very interested in German/Austrian routes, then I do recommend getting Ludwigsbahn anyway at some point as you'll probably enjoy it regardless; although I'd wait for the route to be updated as it currently feels a bit lifeless with hardly any AI traffic etc.

The Ludwigsbahn route has quite negative reviews - you definitely SHOULD NOT take it (even with discounts), Salzburg - Rosenheim is better and more or less interesting according to the reviews Screenshot_20250206_214242_Steam.png

This score is not valid in my opinion. Sure, lots of mostly small issues to fix. But overall, still a solid route.

I will be honest here, I think Mannheim-Kaiserslautern is way better especially with the announced patches. It offers way more variation. The terrain and track layout with the fast and flat line between Mannheim and Neustadt and the hilly terrain between Neustadt and Kaiserslautern is one thing. Then the S-Bahn services especially between Neustadt and Ludwigshafen take their own track, but as they used a construction timetable, the services don't always use the same stopping pattern like expected in real life. And of course you have a bunch of service variation with S-Bahn, RE, IC, ICE, shunter, and freight services that are done with a variety of locos, especially with the patched timetable that will come out soon. Of course for the full experience there would be other routes needed to layer onto it like Niddertalbahn, but I do enjoy what they currently have to offer.

But with DTG's track record of post release patches, I personally would still wait until a discount or until they have patched the most outrageous bugs because while I did praise the route, it still has a bunch of annoying bugs that bring down the experience.
