Ok I was driving a Eurostar (br401) service from Ashford to St. Pancras and could not help but noticed how the M20 Motorway is completely dark. No light poles at all. Maybe it’s like this in real life, I wouldn’t know because I live no where close but if Not why is there no light poles

I live in Folkestone. That part of the M20 is only lit around the junctions at Ashford, Lenham, Maidstone.

In general, they are reducing lighting in order to reduce the carbon impact.

Some would say this is one trade-off not worth making, in terms of the safety impact.

Many of our motorways have been like this for quite some time with only junction areas fully lit. I’m near this area and can confirm there are no lights here.
