Before I list everything I would change is there a way for me to do one with the same images myself or will I need to list all my changes in a post?
No I had a couple of good memories on pacers but at the same time they are terrible suspension wise and haven't got the greatest looks so couldn't go much higher personally.
tft: What makes Sprinters so good? Section S is all good, but there is far too much in section A. matt: Class 139? I mean I get it has only one coach but... Also I notice that as I go up the tier list, the trains get more diesel,, and less electric.
The way I did it is a mixture of work life and how much of an effect they have had on me. I have got two electrics in the top section though. Also the 139 can't be called a train because well... no!
Imagine a waltzer but your not spinning but moving at say ten times the speed and someone has put loads of rocks on the tracks. Also when going round corners imagine the sound of cats fighting. That's how I remember them from holidays in Devon!
Fair dos mate but I think that's the beauty of them, one noise I will never forget is bombing up stoke bank in the cab of a deltic because it's purely glorious and very loud! I think I've said this on here before but they also meant neither me or my parents needed to buy an alarm clock until 1982 so for all the money they have saved me they deserve some appreciation no matter what!
I do respect them for what they did as sound aside they did what they were built for which was bombing down the East Coast at 100 mph and they did do that well but I do not hate them as much as 50s but 50s it because they replaced westerns and that I also hate the sound of them.
Must preface that a lot of the BR Blue era stuff was withdrawn before I was born, so my ranking is more based off of how interested I am when it comes to reading about them/ going to see specials. Also where are the Sprinters? I'd put 150s and 153s in C- tier (150s towards the top of that tier), 155s in B- tier and 156s in A- tier. I'll also add that some of these entries go up or down a tier based on their specific operator. This can be due to better liveries, the operator taking better care of them/ utilizing them better, or simply because I live far from where they operate so I get more excited when I do see one. Cross- County's 170s are B- tier. So are Transport for Wales's. Using them on the Ebbw Vale branch while services from Cardiff to Manchester/ Holyhead are struggling with 150s should be punishable by prison time. Avanti's Voyagers are worthy of A- tier, however I haven't been on them since they took over from Virgin. I can't imagine they've gotten much worse. Chiltern's 165s go in B- tier, simply because I see them less and they look nicer and have better interiors. LNER's, Hull Trains' and Transpennine's 800s/802s get bumped up to B- tier as they have nicer interiors than Great Western's sets as well as better liveries.
