Both the BR 628 and the BR 642 have this button on the dash labeled "Magnetic Brake". How are these used in real life? They appear to be pretty good at slowing the train down. Also I couldn't find a key binding for it, is there a way to operate it with the keyboard?`

    It's the emergency brake.
If they're the same as the ones on the old Tyne and Wear Metro trains, it's effectively a massive electro-magnet under the train. The switch, I believe energises the magnet which then drops onto the track through magnetic attraction.
