Hi, I have an idea for a route extension. My idea is to extend the Mainz Koblenz route, because I think the journeys are not long enough and it would be more interesting if the line was extended. The gameplay would be better and we could get a very cool experience. My idea is also to connect it with the Schnellfahrstrecke Köln - Aachen, wich isn't very far from that line. Tell me what do you think about this idea Thank you in advance Here is the plan of the line : In red : Linke Rheinstrecke Mainz- Koblenz In green : Schellfahstrecke Aachen - Köln In blue : Extension idea
would be a matter on how much different the era makes it, if it ain’t a massive amount to change then DTG could find it a lot easier to just change what is necessary and use that section rather than remake the whole thing. Generally era is only a major problem if the whole area is a ton different or tracks completely taken up and changed place.
I like the idea behind and if technical and business circumstances would be different, this would be a really great idea. But the route from Koblenz to Köln (Cologne) probably on its own would even be too long for DTG with its 79 km, not even speaking about the thought that doing this as an extension to either of those routes (Mainz-Koblenz, Köln-Aachen) letting alone both of it. I personally think that DTG would never do extensions longer than 20 km dependent on their current mindset where even proposals for short branch extensions, like for example the airport branch on Dresden-Riesa, do get denied. But speaking about possible extensions or even new routes running from Koblenz I can show you one of my route suggestions. It's the Lahntalbahn towards Limburg (Lahn) -> you can see this route in the picture in OP above, as the route which runs eastwards off Koblenz. The cool thing is that the railways are even already a bit laid for this route in Left Rhine. I'm currently building the small branch line Limburg to Au (Sieg) (you can't see it in the picture above unfortunately) in the PC Editor and at the moment I'm creating Limburg (Lahn). Technically if ever I come to the point to finish this first project, I'm thinking about an extension (or separate route) of the Lahntalbahn from Koblenz to Limburg. I was born in Koblenz, so this route would also have a personal relation to me.
And even then It's only a major issue if you don't want to make compromises and want to keep everything like it is/was in both eras. But if you just want to create a connection between the past and presence, letting a station/or crossover point with good faith in the state of one era does the job pretty well. I mean yes it's not 100% real, but whenever felt the direct blend of past and presence completely real and logic?
I am afraid but TSW's structure does not allow to add any extension to routes, only recreating from scratch and reselling it ) Certainly we can fantasy...... but reality
Too long. The route is the perfect length already. Having the proposed middle section as a separate route could work though and then the era doesn’t have to match two incompatible routes.
This is a great suggestion don't get me wrong, but it's only a pipe dream. Schnellfahrstrecke Köln - Aachen is a fairly old route, while it's getting a timetable upgrade, I don't think DTG is going to extend the route. The best chance for an extension is somewhere fairly close to Köln. I think the SKA is already at a pretty good length, with the timetable upgrade it'll give it a bit of spice. Aswell as the Desiro HC that I saw someone working on.
currently the route does but the timetable seems not to, though no saying what they could develop on that in the future.
