I've had this route for a while, but just started to play and I'm sorta, kinda enjoying it. You have to discount the sleepy Rhine, the dangerous grade crossings where neither train nor cars care to stop, the dreadful eye adaptation effect coming out of even the shortest tunnels ( I have to look away ) and the quirky brakes on the 110. But I actually like driving the rather ancient, noisy and probably uncomfortable locos. And I rather like the scenery and even the River is well- modeled. I also like the lighting, except for the eye thing. One major downside for me is that neither loco likes my Raildriver, they're all over the place. So I have to do a kind of keyboard/mouse/RD hybrid thing. Overall, though, it's fun to play with. I've been very critical of DTG's output of late and this route isn't changing me into a gushing apologist, but I thought I'd say something positive for a change.
It is a good route and I don’t understand why it has been seen as anything other. It is very hard for me to load up any other route at present. It’s very rare I get hooked on one route for a long period of time but I can’t get enough of this one. The worst thing for me is the bad placement of the seat and driver head position in the 110 but that is an issue from Bremen and that means playing in the rain is not a great experience with that cab. Some other issues here and there but still an engrossing experience.
I'd just wish they'd commit to fixing rather simple stuff for once. Level crossings not working (they work on other routes too, why is this even the case here?), the 103's brakes are hella weird. The 110's brakes are rather ok I think, they were on the first release of Bremen maybe a little overpowered. But they sometimes just don't fix the most simple stuff.. (BR425 on Bremen with its super bright red taillights which not a single other train in this game has.)
I play this route and NID and nothing else anymore since release of the BR 628 What is "all over the place"? ;-) What have you tried to solve the issue? I have absolutely no problems with any of those trains and my RailDriver. Do you ALWAYS take the same USB port when connecting the RD? Did you re-calibrate?
The water was still missing when I went there on Saturday. As far as I know, there wasn't a patch for the route since it's release. Edit: It's possible the patch will come just before the next route release, DTG seems to release a patch one day before the next addon.
See, for me this should have been patched a day or so after release. Mind boggling that a glaring absence like this (which I easily noticed during their preview stream) isn't patched the same week it's released. This is the aspect of DTG's operations that needs to change swiftly.
The Roadmap says that a "post Release" Patch for Linke Rheinstrecke is on the Way. I'm curious what will be included. I hope not only the Rhine Fix
There are also lineside speed limit issues with missing signage and not marrying up with the HUD in places. Immersion breaking if you are trying to drive without the HUD. But it isn't as bad in this regard as Birmingham Cross City as an example. But the route is good and rolling stock is good apart from the physics defying brakes.
I've had my RD for many years, I know it well and re- calibrate regularly. I have no problems with German locos in general, but the 103 and especially the110 give me some vexation, mainly with the throttle and the direct brake. And I'm currently playing without the safety systems, unless I want to use the keyboard and mouse. I'm curious about your comment on USB ports though. What's the thinking there?
It’s kind of wild there hasn’t been a single patch for the route yet. Regardless, it seems to be quite solid. Will probably get it on sale to make use of the Niddertalbahn layer (and vice versa) and enjoy the vintage German locos and wagons (all of which will be completely new to me since I never ended up getting Bremen-Oldenburg). On a different note, I wonder when we’ll get the next German route? Nothing has been announced or is even rumored to be in development, which is very rare to say the least!
Aaah now I understand. You are correct. When I'm driving the 110/103 I pull the lever for acceleration only with my fingertip. For the 110 I've something like "muscle memory" from BRO so hitting the "4" when get going and then continously adding +1 as more speed is picked up is doable with the RD For the 103 ... when I think about it .. I stopped to practise upon arrival of the 628 ;-) I'm not sure if it still is a thing but with TSW2 you had to re-calibrate your RD because internally a new "device" was found and an GUID given. And, but maybe this is specific to my unit, the levers acted "wonky" when connected to an USB2 port.
Good, hopefully their conveyer belt has broke and they can get some patches out for the mess they’ve shoved out the last few months.
Good point. Have to note that I’d be completely happy and in support of a reduction of DLC releases by ~50% if that means each add-on comes out in an acceptable state and with good post-launch support. I’d say that about 70-80% of TSW3 add-ons are interesting to me, but the only thing I’ve bought so far is Niddertalbahn. So, ironically, if they released 70% less DLC but ensured good quality for these few releases, I’d buy more DLC in total in the end.
For me it’s not even about being happy if they did that, they simply will have to, because this sort of output for the current cost is, in a word, disgusting. I think TSW 2 was the highpoint for DTG, that seemed to be where their customer interaction, DLC quality, post release fixes & generally being a decent developer was at its high. Overall TSW 2 improved over TSW2020. Unfortunately TSW 3 has gone the opposite way & whilst we have had a handful of good DLC’s, all the bad stuff is just weighing it down. I’d like to be talking about future features & improvements on what currently exists, but what’s the point when most these routes come out plagued with mini bugs, faulty safety systems, botched PIS, butchered timetables & gameplay issues. DTG need to seriously look at the fundamentals of train simulation (read; a working product) & drop this abhorrent attitude towards authenticity, quality & loyalty.
I likes the route very much. Despite there are some issues as you have mentioned. I have noticed some extra too: > Koln as destination, instead of Koblenz IC Passenger cars displayed right > Trees on water > Freight yard with no wire. Locomotives move anyway, but with pantograph down. I have reported this today, including pictures. https://forums.dovetailgames.com/th...linke-rheinstrecke-mainz-koblenz-route.69642/
They probably want to bundle all the fixes together by region or something or release everything at once. Which is why we are still waiting for niddertalbahn fixes even though tsg has fixed the major pzb bug already
I guess I'll never understand that business model, when some games will have patches several times in one week, releasing individual or small groups of fixes almost as soon as they are ready.
Did someone notice the modern appearance of the buses in the Bingen area? They are looking like low floor Citaro buses which were definitly not driving at that time. Just bought the DLC yesterday in sale on PS5. The river is still missing at a large area.
The route is AMAZING!!! And the locomotives!!! I did a 6:30am run on the new Koblenz route which is AMAZING Milan Dortmund But had about 3 trains stopped in front of me about 5 blocks before Koblenz. Block is a section between signals. Maybe I'll just make my own scenario. Any tips? I will probably put this in a thread at DTG. The route is amazing and overall it is and has to be one of the best DLC EVER and heard a lot of good things about Niddertalbahn as well. It feels like a lot of effort went into it. A lot!!! https://imgur.com/a/dwYCwUb
No I was driving it last night. Not yet. So I say it is coming if you know about it and was reported????
