Would it be an idea to have one station, Paddington, Victoria, Euston or any other stations around the world and have several routes/DLCs running out of one station going to different destinations. Brighton sort of does it on a small scale, could we have a major hub at least for one country and go from there? But it will require loading or hopping to access each route unless DTG have figured out a way to run several routes at once (coming in TSW9)
Support this. Many stations have multiple destinations (Glasgow Central on Cathcart comes to mind, many different routes but only the circle is accessible.)
Dresden in Germany another. Also scope to do things with Hamburg or Koln where several routes radiate. Or back to the UK, a crying shame they didn’t do anything else with Birmingham. Probably the most important transport hub in the country.
This is the reason why I'm looking forward to the Mildmay Line even more, as it connects to 3 existing DLC. It also incorporates AI from other DLC's to reflect connections, crossings and shared rolling stock with other routes (albeit not the in-game part). Maybe the best example yet of content where it all comes together.
I'm biased, but for me, Glasgow Central is a great example with so many routes possible out of it. Been asking for either an expansion or a new route out of Central for ages. Now that they've been able to make a busy station, I want to see more destinations to introduce more stock or take advantage of the 380.
Which 3 DLC? Aware it connects to WCMLS in terms of route hopping, but wasn't sure what else, or if this wasn't what you meant
Was thinking yesterday about the connection at Gospel Oak as I'd often noticed the trains on the other line there. Don't know how I forgot! Thanks for flagging re SEHS - I didn't realise Stratford / Stratford International were pretty much side by side
Personally, I'd want Gourock. But any new route out of Central would make me happy. Kilmarnock we'd need a 156.
Great idea. Perhaps the Cardiff City Network can become the start of a South Wales network - East Valley Lines, West Valley Lines, the Rhoose Loop + Swansea mainline..
Well there is a school of thought that Version 1.0 should have included at least one of the Valley Lines in entirety and at the least gone to Barry Island.
my dream ... Vienna would rock if done right ... even if they didnt do Hauptbahnhof but lets say Westbahnhof or even Hutteldorf
Chicago would be awesome for a major route hub in the US. We could get Metra (license needed), the El, maybe some classic lines like Wabash, C&NW, BN, GN, CB&Q, Milwaukee Road, South Shore Line w/ electrification, etc., all modern freight railroads: CPKC/CP Rail/KCS, NS, UP, CN, CSX, BNSF, and Amtrak (both long-distance and Midwest services). The Metra BNSF Line (Racetrack) is a must-have route for me. It's only 37.5 miles long, but includes everything: freight, long-distance and regional passenger trains, and commuter trains. We could get the CB&Q or BN version of the route. The other line that I want would be the Milwaukee Road or CP/CPKC line from Chicago to Milwaukee.
Does Reading count - if so then you could get The north downs line, and oxford and bristol parkway line, also the bristol line via Newbury and Basingstoke. Or a full route being oxford - guildford via reading with the basingstoke branch
Any station that has multiple routes coming out of it that we could pick and choose what to drive. Anything that gives any one station a busy status.
Basically reading does, other good british ones are guildford, woking, clapham junction, cardiff central, york, southampton, portsmouth.
Big stations such as York, Newcastle etc would be great candidates. As will any major London station.
I would also love for a multilevel station to be represented and with services running to all levels... like some major stations have lets say overground platforms for long-distance and longer distance commutes and lower level(s) are used for S-Bahn/commuter/cross-city routes (lets say Wien Hbf has 12 overground platforms for all kinds of traffic, then two levels below there are 2 platforms for regional/commuter traffic and below even that is the subway)
With Manchester Airport line on the roadmap and Glossip already in game with Manchester Piccadilly, you could have Crewe and Liverpool added connecting all three in its kind of Triangle form which are within close proximity of each other, opens up many operators/Timetable options plus fills these major stations with many of the rolling stock already in the game
