I am increasingly getting into the idea of making timetables in TSW, particularly for some of the BR era routes. I have made scenarios in TSC but I realise this is a whole different ball game. I do have a collection of working timetables so would be using those. I have found a video on youtube titled "Train Sim World 4: PC Editor (Beta) Masterclass - Service Mode and Timetables" this dates form TSW4 days and was published by Train SIm World. Is this still the go to tutorial, I can't really find any others? I have noticed there are mods which change or add substitutions, for example one adding the class 31 to NTP. Are these done in the official editor as I thought timetables were cooked and couldn't be altered? Thanks in advance.
Yeah it's the best thing to get yourself started with. It covers what you need to make a nice basic timetable. I'd suggest finding an online community which contains a good amount of modders who are willing to help. I found myself asking a lot of questions, and without other people's help I doubt my understanding would be as established as it is now (enough to make a easier modern timetable - Riviera 2018). I've moved onto a 1973 BR timetable for the Riviera and it's a bit more complicated with the big increase in coupling and decoupling, run around, ect. I hope you have some coach circuit diagrams and platform marshaling books, the former will really save you a lot of time and the latter will help you achieve more accurate consists (you can go without the later and rely on Flickr though but I'd really emphasise the former to have). I'd recommend starting with something easier first (in my case it was a more modern Riviera). I find it more satisfying than TSC scenario making as there are far less crashes had none but it's harder to bug-fix compared to TSC. I've run into an issue now where .y services have stopped simulating and there is no explicit reason given by the simulation log so I'm pretty much stuck at the moment. It could be down to odd services, odd timings, I don't know. That's the main thing I don't like about the editor. Otherwise it's very fun.
Thanks both for your responses. I don't have any carriage working books or trip working books but I shall look at hunting some down, I do have a couple of station working books but not for any of the BR routes at the moment. I did think about starting with a simple modern timetable. I did try downloading and installing the editor a couple of years ago but ran into a problem, so I will need to do that again. I will look into some online communities.
If it would be of any assistance there is a BR Coaching Stock group on groups.io. From there you'll be able to access a treasure trove of coach circuit diagrams and platform marshalling books which will help you out (covers 1954 - 1989 for the Western Region, although there are some years missing, it also covers other regions but I haven't checked them out yet). DMU diagrams are hard to come by, so if you do find a nice resource for any please let me know.
Thanks, I think I was a member of that a long time ago, I will go searching. You can probably work out DMU diagrams quite well using the WTT, they do show the timing loads so you can work out what a set would likely be comprosed of, i.e. power twin, power car and trailer, 3 or 4 car set.
