Route- Manchester Piccadilly to Blackpool North via Preston This route is a mix of classic commuter running and a bit of high speed on the run-up towards Preston. It has a nice blend of modern and historic stations examples being Preston & Manchester Piccadilly and also very scenic between Preston and black pool. It's a fairly traffic-heavy route as it passes through 3 major stations, 2 of which are along the WCML, increasing the possibility for layers in the future and AI services. Length- About 40 miles I think 40 miles is just about the right length DTG are willing to do as they seem to prefer doing route between 60 & 30 miles. Station count- 20 stations Potential rolling stock- Northern class 319 & 769, class 150/2 The class 319 I feel is very doable, it's a popular train with many sub-classes to choose from and a possible 769 with a couple changes from the 319. A 150/2 I feel would also fit well on this route, obviously with the necessary changes. Major stations- Manchester Piccadilly Bolton Preston Blackpool North Layers & potential DLC Layers- Rail tours using NTP stock DLC- Class 331, 195, 156(super sprinter),
Ooh, that's something I'd love to see, Preston was a regular spotting location for me when I was living in Manchester, I rode on the Northern 150s and 319s very regularly between the two.
Go Spirit Of Steam on Preston to Blackpool and include all the lines on the Fylde Peninsula including the old Blackpool Central and Blackpool North before rebuilding. And throw in the (railway) line to Fleetwood as well, lots of scope for freight and shunting with the docks.
Would love to see this as it gives us more overhead wire trains along with a modern class 150/2, where can I sign up?
Just done an RTT search and this isn't a route. Trains from Blackpool North go to Manchester Airport via Piccadilly.
Class 150/2 simply needs Reskin from British Railways Regional to Northern Rail. For a complete redo retain the body shell with interior modification unless Northern Rail opted retained the BR Regional interior
