Stumbled across these lovely videos showing Manchester Victoria in the steam heydays:

They really made me wish for a new steam timetable for NTP akin to New Journeys or Diesel Legends. Don’t know how much of the route changed in the time between. I seem to recall there being a suggestion thread on it but I can’t find it at the moment.

Anyways, I know Tom Fresco has some steam scenarios on NTP but Creator’s Club is acting up again for me and not letting me play them. Maybe I can get my fix from those when Creator’s Club changes its mind.

Wow, really nice. Railfanning doesn´t seem to be something new.
Not strictly topic related but I´ve always asked myself why the british steam locos don´t feature the smoke deflector shields like german ones for instance? I mean, thermodynamics shouldn´t be that different on the island. ;)
    Visibility?

Plenty of British steam locomotives had smoke deflectors, we just haven't had any of them in the game yet.

Just depends on the design of the locomotive and the airflow around them. Some like the A4’s didn’t need them but some like the A3’s were retrofitted.

A lot of the larger engines that were built later were fitted from the start with smoke deflectors such as the 9f’s.

A lot of it depends on the work too, if you are trundling around at about 30mph all day it’s not really necessary but if you are thundering along at 80 on a mainline you really do want to be able to see ahead most of the time.

If you want I might be able to squeeze in a few scenarios ;)
