When using the new map the controls will sometimes completely become locked. The only one that functions is pressing triangle to bring up the map legend. Everything else, even pausing, is totally unresponsive even though gameplay continues, leaving your only option to force close and restart the game. The most common way to make this happen is through the use of Free Roam tools. Plotting a destination is fine, but plotting a go via almost always results in a control lockout. Occasionally though it can happen at random when no Free Roam tools have even been used, for example not long ago I had it happen simply by having opened the map, it instantly locked.
I have the same issue. Completely locks up my game and only way to resolve it is to restart the application
When you selected set path and add way points to the route the map freezes cause to leave game then restart to come back to game
Habe das gleiche Problem auf XBX. Mit dem Controller friert es ein, aber mit der Maus funktioniert es. I have the same problem on Xbox. It freezes with the controller, but it works with the mouse.
Can confirm on PS5. Only way to resolve is to close the game completely. At least the performance problems relating to the map seems to be resolved.
To build on from this as it's somewhat map related, there is a bug that has existed since at least TSW2 which could be seen on American freight routes, where if you switched the external camera from the front to the back of the train or vice versa you'd often end up with a frozen loading screen, with the sound of gameplay still audible behind it. Again, the only way past this is a total game restart, which is annoying as hell when you have 100+ addons and the game now takes about five minutes to load. Also when you try to force close the game, rather than going peacefully it will actually crash in the process and deliver a report. The reason this links to the map is that this loading screen bug has also happened to me a few times when using fast travel between stations. It reinforces what I believed before, that the bug is caused by the console having to load from one place to another beyond what is currently visually rendered, be it a station that's further away or the back end of a mile long train. It was avoidable previously, you just didn't use the rear external camera on the freight trains and you couldn't do a full length passing shot. But this is now also an issue with the features of the new map, as just like it did for the external camera on US freight, I am now almost afraid to use fast travel for fear of the game crashing and having to load up all over again for the next 5+ minutes.
This happens when fast travelling. Happened to me twice fast travelling on Cathcart Circle. The game froze on the transition screen. You could still hear audio, but the game had to be restarted. Each time, when closing the game, an error report was generated and submitted to DTG via my PS5. Fast travelling is broken.
That this loading screen bug hasn't been fixed since TSW2 is one thing, but that it now blocks the use of one of TSW5's headline features is something else. So that's fast travel off the table because it freezes and crashes, and Free Roam off the table because it also freezes. Excellent QA testing aside, time for a fix.
A little update, after the recent patch this issue still persists. I also saw no mention of it in the notes. You'd think that a bug that presumably could have been there since TSW was built in the first place, and which now makes one of TSW5's core advertised features completely unusable, would be higher on the priority list to fix. That being said I'm sure that if DTG has acknowledged the existence of this bug, a fix is coming eventually...
Starting to think DTG stands for Doesnt Test Games... because how can they let their core feature have such a game breaking bug? How does this even slip past quality control if it even exists? Like come on now...
