Hi all, I finally got around to making a map of the German routes in game, the ones coming to game, the suggested ones and the missing ones. This map could provide a framework for connecting up the German routes, in the very distant future of course, but DTG did say they eventually wanted to do all routes . This map hopefully shows how route mergers could be useful in providing us with diverse and longer routes than the ones we currently have in-game. For more information on mergers, and how I think they can be done check out my suggestion for route merger packs. Suggestions already made: German/Dutch/Austrian/Swiss You can view the individiual detailed suggestions by clicking on the hyperlinked text German Nürnberg - Bayreuth by me Riesa - Leipzig by me (also suggested by kosti.nuuja) Köln-Wuppertal by me Köln - Düsseldorf-Duisburg by Perks390 Köln - Dortmund + Solingen by kosti.nuuja Köln - Frankfurt High Speed Line by Swedewagon Köln - Koblenz by MrSouthernDriver Berlin S9 & S3 (Spandau - BER airport/Erkner) by me Harzer Schmalspurbahnen by Monder Münster - Bremen/Bremen - Hamburg by Matinakbary Wuppertal - Essen by creeperblox2710 Hamburg - Hannover by Timmy Stuttgart - Aalen by Timmy Appenweier - Strasbourg by driverwoods#1778 Husum - Westerland (sylt) by Jo_Kim Köln Messe/Deutz - Trier by drnicktgm#1259 (Köln - Kall was also suggested by cadeshr6s) Aachen - Mönchengladbach by kosti.nuuja Gemünden - Würzburg and Nantenbacher curve by Monder (also suggested by NorthRail1) Kiel - Lübeck by nsbtog18 Lübeck - Puttgarden by anas.hera Hannover - Wolfsburg by anas.hera Wolfsburg - Stendal by anas.hera Offenburg - Immedingen by drnicktgm#1259 Berlin-Gesundbrunnen - Lutherstadt Wittenberg by kosti.nuuja Nürnberg - München by drnicktgm#1259 Tuttlingen - Herbertingen by Wintermute89 Nürnberg - Bamberg by The_Jaeger Bonn - Euskirchen by cadeshr6s Euskirchen - Bad Münstereifel by cadeshr6s Düren - Euskirchen by cadeshr6s Köln - Bedburg by cadeshr6s Remagen - Adenau by cadeshr6s Dutch Den Haag - Breda by me Enschede - Amersfoort by me Utrecht - Gouda - Rotterdam/Den Haag by cyrill.kroonstuiver Amsterdam/Schiphol - Amersfoort/Lelystad by Purno Amsterdam - Arnhem by creeperblox2710 Venlo - Eindhoven by creeperblox2710 Amersfoort - Zwolle by carlingamesnl Amersfoort - Ede-Wageningen by creeperblox2710 Apeldoorn - Dieren (heritage line) by Rudolf Austrian Bludenz - Innsbruck by me Innsbruck - Kufstein by anas.hera Swiss Basel SBB - Bern by me Spiez - Brig by Swisstrains Cross border routes Luxembourg (LU) - Trier by me Hengelo - Osnabrück by me Dresden-Neustadt - Děčín (CZ) by me Arnhem - Oberhausen by driverwoods#1787 How to join these routes into a network? A while ago Matt made a few comments about route mergers on a stream (a thread discussing his comments on it). Using those comments and some things pointed out in discussions on the forums, I have made a suggestion for route merger packs. These consist of a loco and a route merger, allowing DTG to ask money for route mergers. Check out that suggestion for more details. My thoughts Things on this map I think this map clearly shows that connecting the Ruhr area is very feasible, and I think this could be very fun. This would only need two routes (Köln - Duisburg and Köln - Wuppertal) to be possible. The resulting network would provide us with varied services, hopefully with more rolling stock (such as the ICE 1, 2 and 4, aswell as ICE 3 layers for RRO and HRR, the IC 2 sets, more BR 101 layers and more private operators such as National Express). Connecting Rapid Transit and the upcoming Riesa - Dresden via a Leipzig - Riesa route is also an option worth exploring in my opinion, as it allows all the routes (mainly RT) to see more varied and longer services. By including the main hall of Leipzig Hbf this merged route network will allow for more IC, ICE, RE and RB services on the current Rapid Transit route. Furthermore, the options for exploring new countries, or getting more of countries already in game (such as Switzerland) are numerous. Personally I'd love to see a number of Dutch routes, as these provide a lot variety without feeling completely foreign (and out of their area of interest) to players that are used to British and German routes. Besides Dutch routes, Austrian and Swiss routes have some unique rolling stock and great scenery to offer, and I strongly urge you to check out tthe Dutch, Swiss and Austrian suggestions above, and to support the ones you like! Things not on this map This map shows a lot of potential, but also focusses on German, Swiss, Austrian and Dutch routes in the modern era. France has a lot of potential too, and some historic German routes like the following ones could be fun. Hopefully we'll not only see the modern German network from the map above, but also a number of new countries and eras!
