Moin, and this time Moin is totally appropriate, as we are high up in the north of Germany. The Marschbahn sort of has a legedary status, thanks mostly to the Hindenburgdamm - a ten kilometer embankment that carries the rail line across the North Sea to the island of Sylt. The section I've chosen here measures about 115 kilometers in length, but then again, there's not really a lot going on as far as scenerey is concerned, station are few and far between as well. What it does have though is a few interesting bridges, such as the Eiderbrücke near Friedrichstadt or the raising bridge at Husum harbour. Speaking of Husum, the crossing of the city by the seaside there alone is almost enough to justify this route. Also, this route isn't electrified, so Germany would finally get its share of diesel smoke.
