Train Sim World 5 is required to make use of the Add-on. The West Somerset Railway route Add-on is required to make use of the Scenarios and narrative gameplay. If you’re a new player to Train Sim World, you can get all of the above content in the Train Sim World 5: Thomas & Friends™ Edition core bundle, available on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Epic Games Store, and Steam for $39.99 / £29.99 / €34.99 You can also read more about the release in our dedicated Thomas & Friends™ FAQs A new adventure begins: Naturally, the star of the show is Thomas the Tank Engine, with his friends Annie and Clarabel joining him. Adding an element of mischief is Diesel and the Troublesome Trucks. What will they get up to? Unlike previous Add-ons, the gameplay here is entirely story-driven, with a fun narrative that follows the adventures of Thomas and his friends during their visit to the West Somerset Railway. Introducing the characters: Thomas the Tank Engine Thomas is a cheeky Tank Engine and he often gets into scrapes, usually by being over-eager to do things best left to bigger and more sensible engines. But clouds never last long in Thomas' life and he is soon bustling about again, playing his part in the railway. Lovingly recreated in Train Sim World 5, players can ride along with Thomas and make use of his signature ‘peep peep’ whistle! Whether shunting, moving passengers with Annie & Clarabel or just going for a ride along the scenic coastline, Thomas will have a great time having new adventures in Somerset. Driving with Thomas has been set up to be as intuitive and accessible as possible for everyone to enjoy. Throttle and brake controls are simplified and Thomas, being so reliable and useful, has been given permission by the WSR to go beyond the real-world speed limits. Annie & Clarabel Annie & Clarabel are Thomas’ faithful coaches. Annie only carries passengers, whereas Clarabel is a composite coach. They are like twin sisters! Diesel Diesel is often the foil to Thomas and his other friends. He believes himself to be the most important and useful engine, even in Somerset! He believes steam engines are no match for diesels, but at the end of the day, he is an unlikely ally to the other engines. Players will be able to step into Diesel’s cab for the very first time! Like Thomas, his controls are accessible with a simple throttle and brake. He won’t be as fast as Thomas is, but that won’t stop him moving things around during Thomas’ visit to the WSR. The Troublesome Trucks & Brake Van Based on mixed goods wagons, the Troublesome Trucks are rascals on the West Somerset Railway who take great delight in causing trouble for whichever engine has to pull them. Though the stock includes trucks and a brake van, these will only be compatible with Thomas characters, which are uniquely modelled within the game to interact with one another. They will not be able to couple to existing Train Sim World locomotives and rolling stock. Sir Topham Hatt Sir Topham Hatt is the director of the Railway and is responsible for making sure the engines are always right on time. His biggest pet peeve is confusion and delay. Sir Topham Hatt accompanies Thomas to the WSR following an invite from Mr Peters. He’ll also be keeping a close eye on Diesel! Mr Peters Extending an invite to Thomas and his friends to the West Somerset Railway is Mr Peters, a long-time friend of Sir Topham Hatt. Mr Peters has always wanted to meet Thomas, especially after being told how reliable and useful he is! Scenarios tell a story: Following an invitation from the mainland, Sir Topham Hatt has been asked if his engines can visit the West Somerset Railway for a special weekend where people can see the North Western Railway’s finest. Sir Topham Hatt has decided to let Thomas go and visit the mainland with Annie and Clarabel! Operate special trains along the mainland’s longest standard gauge heritage railway. But wait! Diesel is being his mischievous self, and wants to join in on the adventure… He’s followed Thomas to West Somerset and is determined to play tricks on him and prove that he is Sir Topham Hatt’s most useful engine. The adventures take place across 8 Scenarios on the West Somerset Railway. Be careful! Some of the Scenarios have two different outcomes, depending on whether players can successfully complete the tasks. The Scenarios are narrated by Mark Moraghan (narrator of television series 17 – 21) with subtitles available and simple cutscenes help tell the story between tasks completed by the player. How will the adventures unfold? That is not for us to say. But hunting down objects, dealing with Diesel’s antics and preparing for a special event all form part of the story. For those that want to get familiar with Thomas and Diesel before embarking on their WSR journey, Tutorials for each character are available in Training Center. Additional Gameplay On top of the narrative of the Scenarios, an alternative timetable will be available on the West Somerset Railway route with all the Thomas & Friends characters as well as the diesel Class 47 and Class 09 locomotives available to operate along England’s longest heritage railway. Train Sim World 5’s Free Roam will also play a big part in the enjoyment for players with other routes in their collection. Bring Thomas and his friends onto any Train Sim World route Add-on. Take him across the world with routes from the USA and Europe and tell your own story by setting paths between stations and yards. You can even add Thomas and his friends to your own custom timetable with Scenario Planner. Livery Designer is not supported for this content and whilst Formation Designer is, Thomas and his friends will only be compatible with one another and won’t be able to couple to existing Train Sim World trains and locomotives. West Somerset Railway improvements The West Somerset Railway route itself is also receiving a range of new updates to elevate the foliage and the landscape across the route, including bringing a range of improvements such as Conductor Mode for the Mk1 coaches and new suspension physics to all WSR rolling stock! These updates will be free to all players with the West Somerset Railway route Add-on in Train Sim World 5. Here are some of the new features you can expect: Improved foliage & landscape materials to TSW 5 standards Improved route & signal lighting Improved tracks to include TSW 5's long distance shadows Added suspension to all WSR stock including the Class 33 & 52 Added conductor mode to the WSR Mk1's Replaced all benches with interactive ones for passengers Opened up footbridges for passengers and the player And many more! I searched Thomas on the Xbox store but the only option available was the full package (£29.99 inc TSW5 and WSR). However, if you search for Train Sim World 5 and scroll down to 'Add Ons For This Game', the standalone DLC is listed there,
Firstly typing Thomas gave me the above game. Typing Train Sim World 5 Thomas the Tank Engine said no results. Found it by eventually by searching in Train Sim World 5 deluxe going into that and typing Thomas as well but charging £29.99.
I've been thinking of a story where Thomas and Diesel meet something very mysterious as they get thrown off their heritage railway and thrust into a terrifyingly fast world, but perhaps it's not as scary as they think? Is there documentation on how to change the facial expressions? I'm guessing we're in PC Editor territory with that one?
If anyone is still having a nightmare on the joke that is the Microsoft Store Found it on twitter here by following the links. Join in via youtube.com/live/BpEEqlWvq...
On XBox store I just searched for Thomas and Friends. That showed me the most expensive pack including TSW5. I could click on this and it showed me ‘This package contains….’ At that point I could select just the Thomas DLC. Didn’t buy it, I was just curious as to why it’s so difficult and I agree that it’s not very intuitive. Searching for Thomas should result in all 3 available packages being returned, not just the most expensive one!

Not saying I'm getting this... but how many hours gameplay do the scenarios equate to? As someone who has been enjoying the WSR updates and the Class 33 improvements it might be a way of saying thank you, particularly to Liam. Might also encourage DTG to think about doing a proper Sodor route (the isle Of Arran awaits as a template).

Oh yeah the petition guy just gave an update, apparently the revolution starts today. Mar 20, 2025 Despite my best efforts the DLC has still been released. I have petitioned for the cancellation of this shovelware to no avail, and today the revolution begins. Our new goal is to get the DLC delisted from all stores with a full refund. I have been silenced for speaking out. Unless we do something this is just the start. Sign the petition, and we retain a glimmer of hope. Free Trainsimgaming1001 Hahaha for those wanting a good laugh. He's still at it in his own little world.
He really has well and truly lost it. Like, sure. Let's delist it. Let's deny people who want it the chance to have it. Why not let DTG and Mattel lose all the money that went into it. Also, wouldn't delisting the DLC and denying sales from it generate no money? You know, the money he wanted put towards bug fixes and adding other stuff instead?
My god how many straightjackets are we going to need to keep this level of insanity contained, I'm going to say more than anyone has......
hello there, yesterday I bought the dlc on ps store, when I played it in French (my native language) there isn't narrator voice, juste French text and a lot of silence, a little bit weird to see lips moving but without any voice, I change my ps5 language to English and I have narrator voice, so do you know if there is missing voices packages in the dlc or others languages than English can't have narrator voice on Thomas Story?
Wow. I can just see Keir Starmer dropping all the affairs of State, phone calls to Trump, Putin and Zelenskyy etc. to get on top of the Thomas situation!
There’s also a timetable for Thomas & Diesel on WSR as well as the scenarios. Some services last 1hr30m as standard for WSR, so that’ll boost your gameplay time up a bit.
We best be getting some numbers on speed dial then, get some more orders for extra strong straightjackets......
Really been having fun with this so far. A novelty for sure but having Thomas available in free roam creates so many opporunities for "world tour" adventures. On an unrelated note, 5 normal ScotRail locos. Spoiler
Would anyone recommend it also maybe they could add the rest of the characters eventually that would be even better
You should see petition dudes new update. He doesn't realize he's the butt end of our jokes and that no one misses him on these forums Now hes going to "hijack" all of DTG's streams until they remove Thomas. We shall see Monday how successful he is. The mods are pretty quick at silencing the trolls. As for this DLC I cracked and bought it. It looked like people who are streaming it were having too much fun. And well glad I did. It is fun.
I might have to get it when I'm back from holiday always watched Thomas as a kid so be good to drive him in the game
Oh don’t, I wanted Thomas the Tank as young kid, but never got one. My mum couldn’t afford it. And today the boat I am in then I don’t have two pennies to rub together. I have the Books and DVDs,,but with this DLC I could be scurrying along the tracks all day long. Thomas, you will be mine. One day: ( If you don’t buy this, then I’m sorry but you must be mad, or was never with Thomas is the 80s, on those dark days. Thomas would always make a child happy, I’m in my mid 40s and seeing him brings all those memories flooding back. So regardless of what others say, personally I love that you DTG and Mattel have brought Thomas and Friends to TSW5. Thank you.
Well.... considering the backlash here I've seen some tremendous feedback from people reliving their childhoods, parents whose kids are fixated on this and demand for more locos and routes. Perhaps not such a waste of time after all as some had said. Looking forward to playing another mission today. Toot toot
Hello DTG. What a shame... It looked funny, but since I'm French and obviously this DLC doesn't have a French Sonnor translation, why offer something unfinished? Why are there no Sonnor translations in other languages? We don't all speak English in this world... Too bad, refund request submitted.
Yeah. I was part of the backlash but this was more to do with them building us up to a major new release all through December and then dropping this minor diversion upon us. if they had announced it randomly without the build up, it would have been a lot better received. Also it would maybe have been better as a Christmas release rather than an announcement so parents could buy it for their children for Christmas. I have nothing against releasing it. After all, if you don’t like it, don’t buy it. I have purchased it myself and am having fun particularly in free mode as a bit of relaxation, enjoying the routes without having to concentrate too much. I can recommend running him on Peak Forest.
There are hundreds of languages in the World. Why translate it into French in particular? Also, why target this particular game? By your own logic, all games should have translations in all languages. Nothing would ever get released.
Thank you Jamie. Please can you have a word with Matt and make it easier to find new products in the xbox store at 10am and not midday that has been the case recently. Please make it better for Xbox players in the future. Thank you.
Hey I’m trying to not get involved with the grumbling side. Why because we all have our own opinions but we forget to listen to our own. So yes away from all that, you perfectly summed it up. People of all ages love Thomas and Friends, that’s clear to see. He Holds a special place in my heart as by the sounds of it Thomas has a found a perfect place to stable in yours. So when I hear or see anyone grumble about this DLC in general I’m thinking come on it’s Thomas and what he represents now and in the past. To the old and the young. I personally feel upset of people that speak so rudely because sometimes it’s not about money. But about having something we have love for and hold dear to our hearts. You can’t put a price on that. I envy you I really do. Have fun my friend, because I’m sure it’s a dream come true now you are actually Thomas’s Engineer. Toot Toot
Also in German - for a game, what we should play with little kids - or played from little kids between 3-7 years old - so can they not read and not understand something. For old player ok, but why should I play it and buy it for my self? And yes, it should be not translate in all language, but French, Spanish, Italian and German should be in for Europe. So I would not buy it... With translate I had it buy for my little nephew.
Not to mention the cost if your a real person translating the narration. You could use Ai but who (Edit) would listen to that?. I wouldn’t for sure. Yet does a console not have a subtitle option available. Because well a console is sold world wide. TSW isn’t or marketed in those countries. Do they release different products for different world wide regions. But you make a perfect point, is every game or DLC released by DTG or any other major publisher have many different dialects. No, Many games made for a Japanese market is in, yep you guessed it Japanese language. No English narrative just subtitles. These subtitles can be changed for most EU countries because it’s made for that market. Ie Regions like on DVDs. It amazes me that people only care now. It’s been around since the technology was invented. Mostly in the early stages of the Music industry. ABBA, as a perfect example. Sang in Swedish but changed to English because English is a more common language. Mr Bean, English but been translated because of the BBC world programme sales. I love a film franchise called Taxi, it’s all French because it’s a French film. Do they swap the actors. No it’s either dubbed or has Subtitles. So why put a product such a Thomas, English in to say Russian. The game is and has been released in the for the EU market. English being the main language, options for different languages should be available in the games sub menu or the console or systems the use has. So yes, I fully agree with you. Right that’s my little rant over here.
Yes if it’s for and sold within the EU than these languages should be available. They maybe, either in the games menu or the system you have. Even a TV, will allow the option to change subtitles. I full understand when children are involved they may not see things as I or others have. That’s on the Development teams I guess to take that into consideration. Or publicly discussed with the community.
I’d assume so because it says Thomas a friends. Not a few friends Hopefully we will see more characters added. Would open up a completely different world for scenarios and getting the family kids involved. I’d assume if this works out then Mattel would continue because of the revenue Thomas branding brings in. Fingers crossed tho.
