So pleased to see DTG Harry’s post in the announcement section, that the launch of this new route has been delayed for a fortnight to November 12th and possibly later until DTG are satisfied it’s suitable for release. We wouldn’t want this route coming with a load of bugs. Wish other developers had taken the same stance with other routes in the past. Looking forward to the Stream on November 5th and the fireworks it may cause in the uk!!!
this thing with tsw5 keeps getting worse not better..im kind of looking forward to MBTA Boston but i am getting very tired of just US passenger only routes its getting old FAST . I m to point a really dont want to spend any more money on TSW until US Freight gets a comback they need to get someone on board and give it priority done ...freight is important too ,and should be kept in TSW going FWD
the actual route choice is irrelevant here. what matters is that dtg have made a decision that’ll benefit everyone in the long term
Agreed, it really is a good move by DTG to delay the launch. At least when assuming this is to bring from "ok" to "good" and not from "meh" to "ok"
In fairness TSW5 should of been delayed to it was in an awful state when released but it's good they've delayed this to make sure it's released in a good way
Can’t you add freight to a locomotive in Free Roam. Never tried it personally but if you can that would be good for you and everyone!!
Hopefully this means DTG listened following the TSW 5 launch backlash. Surely releasing a more polished route is better for everyone in the long run. Working to arbitrary deadlines, whilst useful to a degree just results in poor releases.

no we need new freight content in tsw every one can also do a passenger train in free roam on a freight route ... Tired no one understand s that FREIGHT is BIGGG in US and for DTG to just keep throwing passenger US routes out is insane how long does it have to keep going before DTG gets some effort fourth and deliver new freight content and routes for US ..they already have stuff under the hood they could improvise something ..they keep telling us inthe road map about a Santa fe pak still crickets on that i wonder if it will ever come tsw6 will be out still no Santa fe pak or any freight will there be any new freight ever no US freight CO will step up and open their doors and DTG having more and more licence issues
If you're that desperate for freight and don't think dtg will do anything, you should just create your own 3rd party or game and just create us freight routes

not another one. how many times do people need to hear it. ‘make it yourself’ is not a valid argument. the people who make the locos and routes are professionals and do it for a living. not as a hobby in their spare time
I personally believe the issues and stability of the core game is more to do with the delay than the actual DLC route itself. Can't believe the visuals are not complete and everything in place. More likely frame drops and crashes that are still prevalent on the launch titles, which impacts all future DLC, needs to be addressed first. Whether it's the DLC not being ready or the more time on core patches before future releases, I commend DTG for taking the time and decision to do it. At least it saves the potential fallout and 50 threads of crazy next week.
To be honest I welcome this approach. I'd rather DTG be open and honest and give themselves more time to fix or polish a route properly before release. To me this is a sign of quality control I like to see and hear. It may be a bit inconvenient to a few people, but it's better for all involved in the long run. So fair play to DTG on this one, they most likely are not wanting to have a repeat of the WCML saga and have learnt from the feedback about quality control going forward.
This is good news. Rushed releases lead to poor quality. NY-Trenton and WCML rightly got huge backlash due to the routes releasing in a poor state. The more time in the oven, the better
I think they learned from the release of boston sprinter in the rush hour bundle that people get very upset when their timetable randomly bricks up if you're 1 min behind. so ill gladly wait for them to fix whatever they have to fix and might after wait after release after preordering tsw5 deluxe i kinda learned my lesson with day once purchases.
Thank god there is no US frieght coming, talk about boring. Personally I just like modern commuter routes so its right up my alley. Now as for the upcoming WCML from Just Trains I will be skipping that as I have no interest in past era's I lived the 80's, they sucked. I won't be hijacking that thread saying saying how uninterested I'm in it with a list of reasons. Because its not relevant But alot of people will buy it and like it unlike US freight that does not sell well, and those that buy US frieght just seem to complain about it anyways that its not as good as SPG was/is. So why should they make a US freight route if it's going to cost more to make than they will make off of it?
I really didnt care for much br blue old era stuff either but after playing blackpool branches i can admire the quality just trains puts into the product. It really makes the gameplay. While id hope they do a us route i havent seen much stuff from out in ts that isnt in the uk besides chinese content.
For many of us, WCML Shap will be the main event of TSW’s lifecycle to date. MBTA, well I’ve run the section of route on Boston to Springfield in TSC (which also offers a fair bit of period Alco hauled freight) and while it’s a bit more scenic and curvy than Boston Sprinter, IMHO it’s not £30 worth. Half the runs will be driving from cab cars which again, to me, I find more boring than slogging uphill at 20 MPH with a freight - where at least you get some loco thrash.
2 weeks? will that be enough?, does the delay mean we'll get a route completely free of bugs and issues?
Bugs free ? It’s DTG don’t be too much optimistic and in two weeks they’ll correct issues with floating cars that’s all.
I ask the same question! Regardless of the car crash launch of TSW5 this IS progress, it appears they've listened!
We have no Idea in what state the route is right now. Just because its delayed by two weeks it doesn't mean that there will he no problems and bugs. Also to believe that a two week delay would have solved all the problems regarding TSW5 and its core routes is a bit naive imo. The game is now released for two months and we just started to see the first small patches, the game is still riddled by bugs. DTG would only pull the handbrake if it is absolutely needed because something fundamental isn't working or a problem occurred that makes this route unplayable. They wouldn't delay it for some small bugs.
It’s to make up for staff absences during dev. This isn’t some grand move to add 2 weeks extra work, it’s just bringing it upto current DTG standard. No bar raising happening here.

You should find a new game then, DTG have made it no secret that there is no real path to development for dedicated US freight on their side & there’s little anyone can do if third parties won’t jump in.
Indeed. And as we’ve said, other than the arcane e-commerce system, the lack of any sale or discount on older items and the fact it looks like MSTS in 2002 - Run 8 is really the go to if you’re serious about US freight. DTG’s short 40 or 50 mile routes cannot compete with (now) being able to drive through from Seligman to Modesto, at a price of course!
To be honest it’s an industry wide issue with games focusing solely on maximum monetisation/profit in exchange for a wider player experience. I’ve dropped a few titles I used to love because of it. Shame to see how much passion is being replaced by greed.
Sorry run 8 is not a option in my book its web ware too complicated of a process to buy and download ...if they would bring it to steam store then id buy it in a instant ...guess it will be Trainz and TSC for me from here on out im done with TSW no use in beating this dead horse anymore ..
