Hi everyone this my personal review of the new Boston-worcester route. 1. The route tasks are pretty easy find most are at stations apart from i think 6 red socks witch spread down the line. 2. Everything that layers into it 95% of it is yard switching or storage moves. 3. It's not a speedy route by far your average speed would be around 60mph. 4. The trains are modeled very well as in they are nice to drive and the safety systems work very well. 5. We still have the floating cars and some of the scenery is a bit blah could use work. 6. Some of the journeys I done the train doors opened randomly while moving. 7. Bit annoying that you have to have so many freight dlcs just get 99% yard switching if don't own them i won't buy them just for this route 8. So going from worcester to boston south and got caught out at boston landing switches hadn't changed so missed the station not sure of would have to change it ourselves i wouldn't though so check track round that area. 9. Also I've noticed if use safety systems you are always being slowed down even on clear path I might like that irl tho I don't know That's just my thoughts on this be your own judge tho.
very helpful and straight to the point review. would you recommend getting it on sale or full price? i can only get one of mbta or wcmlos
I would wait for a sale no guarantee it would be in the sale i would wait for the up coming wcml set in the 80s .
For anyone interested, here is a Timelapse overhead view of the Route if you don't have time to sit there and watch hours of Streamers talk nonsense and only show the "good stuff". There are some nicely modeled area's, but there is also a large chunk of blandness. As mentioned above, the majority of Layers is literally just Yard stuff. AI is scarce as with 99.9% of their content. Definitely wait for a Sale imo. Route has a "haze" in the short distance which can really make it look bad a lot of times [seems to be what they like doing on the new Content].
It shouts sale to me, already knew from the TSC version it was a slow route and at this point of TSW where my collection is already stuffed with barely played routes it doesn’t score highly on the triage process I’m afraid.
I mean what did you expect? This line isn't a major freight line anymore, and each CSX service is based on real life movements and such.
What do I expect? Not much from DTG, however despite them not having the Loco's to fill a full 24hr realistic Timetable, nothing is stopping them from simply filling in more of the Gaps with extra Services despite it going against a "real timetable", because let's be honest, DTG model everything else for more of an Arcade style Game, so what difference would it make except providing a more "busy" Route?
Why would you buy anything from a developer you don't expect much from? I don't believe most reasonable thinking people would, I certainly wouldn't, I would buy things from developers I thought deserved my custom! I don't agree that DTG model everything for a more arcade style game, I think they do try and combine a game and a sim and for most part reasonably successfully. I would rather realism over something not realistic just because some people want routes stuffed with trains! The route looks good to me, I will purchase it next month after I have bought WCML.
There's not much dtg can do if the route is not busy in real life. If it's quiet, it's quiet. If it's busy, it's busy. Not every route is the same
I was gonna say, didn't a community member give DTG a list of typical freight workings which were then implemented?
I don't pay for my DLC. The Game doesn't lean towards realism with the features it provides, just look at the Livery Designer for one example, has a mind of it's own, and creates everything that goes against "realism". However, no one is wanting it "stuffed with Trains", but some MORE services would be nice. Not sure why when people mention something, you immediately think we want something WAY above what we are actually saying. Stop over-exaggerating everything.
So you don't want the route stuffed with trains but want more services? To get more services, you need more trains. That makes no sense at all. They can't add more services if the route isn't busy in real life and you want dtg to fake the timetable even more and add services when it doesn't actually run?
Then what? The only thing really missing is that few times a day Amtrak service, no? I mean sure, I would also love to see that, but it's not like it would make the route much busies.
Yet you completely ignore my comment about a Feature that they implemented that goes against Realism? Ok sure bud. If you honestly think TSW is 100% "Realistic" then.... I honestly don't know what to say lol.
After reading this one again, I'm starting to get what you mean, but in this case we already have that on this route. Since they implemented services like the geometry train or the flat car runs. I highly doubt they are runs that go every day, yet in TSW they are implemented to give the route some more flavour. Other than that, I don't think there is much you can do. Like sure, you could make up an imaginary timetable that's more busy, but why? Personally I'm more fond of realistic operation, even if it results in less driveable services.
Outside of the Lake Shore Limited, there is nothing more they can add..... I cant tell if you are being serious or just trolling at this point.....
You don't have to use livery designer. DTG seem to be trying to combine a simulator with gameplay or fun elements for the less serious simmers. I just drive the trains but personally I want as realistic timetable as possible. If the timetable on the Worcester route fits that description, which from what I've read on here it does, then for me that's what is important. If you don't pay for your DLC then I see less reason for you to be complaining!
I dunno about thatg- I use LD, but only to add back in RL liveries that DTG haven't bothered to include.
Indeed. Intriguing. Jack Sparrow, “Hey ho me hearties”, comes to mind, in which case they have no business complaining on the Developers official forum.
