Hi there, I’ve been playing train simulator games for over a decade now, and Train Sim World absolutely scratches that immersion itch. Also, as a Boston-area resident, I’ve enjoyed running services on the familiar Providence and Worcester lines. I’d also like suggest a third MBTA route: the Red Line! Given DTG’s positive rapport with the T, it feels like a natural fit. First, the Red Line is ~22mi, which as far as packs go, and though not the longest, is packed with variety. In terms of rolling stock, assuming we’re still in 2019, consists of two families of trains: the aluminum-bodied 1500/1600/1700 series and the steel-bodied 1800 series (whose sounds I adore lol). There’s also good expansion potential - perhaps a layer including the CRRC 1900 series, and the Mattapan Line, which extends from the Ashmont branch and uses the PCC Streetcar. To my knowledge it would be the first light-rail/streetcar type route in the game, but I also think there’s something to be said for it as a celebration of Boston’s (and the entire nation’s) streetcar heritage. There’s also visual and architectural highlights - the Longfellow Bridge between Kendall and Charles offers one of Boston and Cambridge’s most iconic views, and crossing the Neponset between Boston and Quincy provides its own, perhaps quieter, scenic beauty. Some stations offer their own unique quirks too - I’m thinking of Park Street and its Spanish Solution, Harvard and its large mezzanine, and the escalators to the heavens at Porter. Perhaps I’m getting a bit ahead of myself, but since the Red Line would use Cabot Yard, just south of South Station, it might be cool to allow users to run partial Commuter Rail services between South Station and Quincy Center/Braintree. I can also be a bit petty and suggest scenarios based on the endless service disruptions, a train breaking down, etc., but that's a conversation for another day. Also on a more personal note, I quite enjoy the Bakerloo Line, being one of the only - if not THE only - subway/metro style service available in-game. Anyway, I appreciate you taking the time to read and consider this.
