An inbound (southbound) Red Line train arriving at Charles/MGH station in July 2019 The Red Line started on March 23rd, 1912, owned by MBTA or Mass Bay Transit Authority. The line started between Alewife & Ashmont or Braintree. Has 4 yards: Alewife on the north side; Cabot, Codman & Caddigan on the south side. Crossing over the Charles River @ the Longfellow Bridge between downtown Boston & Cambridge, as well as the Nesponset River on the Braintree branch. At Cambridge, they are numberous stations underneath Massachusetts Ave from Kendall to Alewife. The line goes split south of the JFK/UMASS station: every 10-20 minutes, every 10-16 minutes on weekdays & every 12-16 minutes on weekends further north. Current rolling stocks is 1700s (aluminum body),1800s (stainless steel) & a brand new 1900s & 2000s until 2151. Although this is my favorite route, it would be easier for them to do a shorter line like blue or orange line
