The historic line between Melbourne and Ballarat holds a special place in many Australian people's heart. The line runs through open plains, through the bustling west of Melbourne, out past Melton towards Baccus Marsh around the huge railway curve to clime the steep hill. Then through dense bush scrub, sidelined by new and old rolling stock, before finally arriving in the regional city of Ballarat. The line uses 3 types or rolling stock, but only 2 are necessary. The 1st one is the Bombardier V/Line Vlocity 160. This DMU is the mainstay of almost all regional railway lines in the state of Victoria. of almost all regional railway lines in the state of Victoria as well as this these trains will be assisted by the historic N class and H type carriages. Although the N class don’t run the entire line any more, they still operate in regular use to more distant destinations. A timetable is available on the V/Line official website. The line, as mentioned before, is operated by the regional operator of V/Line, a subsidiary of PTV. The stations stopped at on this line are: SOUTHERN CROSS, Footscray, Sunshine, Ardeer, Deer Park, Caroline Springs, Rockbank, Cobblebank, Melton, Bacchus Marsh, Ballan and BALLARAT. The line could also have a 1 stop extension out to Wendouree station, a suburb of Ballarat, where many trains terminate. I personally feel that a line that doesn't inhabit the northern hemisphere would be a really nice change, and there have been a lot of requests for a Melbourne based route before. Thank you for reading.
