I would like to see both the Frankston and Werribee Lines on the Melbourne suburban rail network (in Australia) made for TSW. The combined length of both lines is 76.8 kilometres long, not counting the additional Williamstown and Stony Point branches. Those two are 3.5 and 30.7 kilometres long respectively, and they should be included as well to make the route even longer and more interesting. This combined route would have 58 stations.

Williamstown is the terminus of a short branch that leaves the Werribee line at Newport, and when I visited Melbourne in 2013, the branch was only served by a 3-car ‘Comeng’ EMU running as a shuttle down from Newport, but these services now run all the way to Flinders Street.

    Possible DLC name: Melbourne Commuter
Current Train Operator: Metro Trains Melbourne
Ideal Time Period: 2013 to 2016

    (Suitable Motive Power):
    Alstom X'Trapolis 100 EMU
    Siemens 'Nexas' EMU
    V-Line 'Sprinter'

The EMUs run the main commuter services from Werribee or Frankston up to Flinders Street station in the city centre, while the railcars run the Frankston to Stony Point shuttle. You could also add the Comeng EMU as a later add-on, similar to what was done with the LIRR M3.

(Reasons why I think this is a good idea):
1 - All but one of the routes currently in-game are standard-gauge.
2 - We still don't have any Australian routes.
3 - You'd get to run both diesel and electric units on different parts of the route.
4 - These lines are significant to me because Melbourne is the only Aussie city I've ever been to.
5 - It would include an iconic station, in the form of Flinders Street.

    Definitely a good route idea.

I'd argue the only downside being how expensive it'd be to get the research team down to Australia. But other then that brilliant suggestion! 58 stations might be a little too much but certainly not undoeable with enough time.

If it's too much work, it'd still be fine if DTG (or a 3rd party dev) just made the Werribee and Williamstown lines; only 36.4 kilometres in total with 20 stations (three of which are on the Williamstown branch).

That does seem more realistic given DTG's current track record and atleast with the branch it's slightly less linear. But it'd be a great route to introduce a new continent to the game.

  5. Well crowdfunding and third party development are options.

I love the idea of a Stoney Point branch!!

With crowdfunding you can pay for 3d models to be made of the stations and get the Comengs or railcars that are good to be built.

  6. Unless Sydney is around the corner I hear rumours.... Which is neat!!
