Hello all, hope you’re all well - I’ve read a lot of posts lately regarding the memory crashes / CTD’s in TS Classic after the update a few days back. I’ve had a free afternoon so I decided to do some testing to see if I could figure it out.

I noticed I kept getting crashes on Welsh Routes either with the AP Class 150 or AP Class 158. I reinstalled both of them and also re-installed all my Welsh routes. Unfortunately the crash still occurs, see image below for the error message. It’s got me really stumped as I never had any issues before. I tend to get the crashes on Standard Scenarios and only when I press F1 to bring up the task/timetable or the Key 9 for the 2D Map. I did test on ATS Chat Moss yesterday and I didn’t have any problems. This was with the AP Class 319.

I have tried lowering settings and it still occurs, seems to be when opening either the Task (F1) or 2D Map (Key 9).

I did manage to fix the crashes with Quick Drives on the JT MML by going into Borderless Mode for my screen setup in the TS settings, it had been on Full Screen.

All I’ve had open were Steam for TS Classic & the TS Controller Interface.

    Intel Core i9-990K CPU @ 3.60GHz 3.60 GHz
    32.0GB RAM
    NVIDIA GeForce RTX3090 (Driver up-to-date)
    Windows 10

If anyone can decipher the error code please let me know as I am clueless when it comes to them.

    Thanks,

    Jonathan

Common? It's not happening for everyone.

  4. It's common when there's more people having the OOM issue, so yes.. Common ;)

Just to be clear, the actual error encountered in this instance is actually not common at all.

The specifics are listed in the error message itself, in this instance, a fatal error occurred in mode Drive during an update within WINDOWS_MANAGER. This is because you changed the screen mode whilst you were driving/playing and Windows didn't like it. This could be for several reasons but it points to something handled by Windows.

The error might be labelled 'Out of Memory' but can be completely disregarded as such as it is not descriptive of the actual error encountered at all. We will get around to changing it at some point but there are higher priority things to take care of first.

    Best, Steve

Error by the User not the game

  7. What a load of bull! How can it be caused by the user? As I have stated before, no other games I have installed 'NOT ONE' displays an 'Out of memory' error.

Only game that displays the Out of memory error, is in fact TSC! When I originally purchased TS2019, I had absolutely NO errors.

Did you even read Steves response?

  9. Yes, I've read Steves response! However, I don't change the screen mode while driving and nor have I ever changed the screen mode while driving/playing.

    It happens while using:
    1) Drive mode
    2) Quick drive
    3) Editor
    4) Standard
    5) Free roam

It happens in every mode. In my opinion, it's the ads in-game. I'm not even sure WHY there's ads in the game considering it's NOT a free game! It's not like an app or game you've just downloaded freely from Google Play containing a million ads, including porn, dating and war ads. I really believe the ads in TSC is causing the out of memory issue and performance problems. Remove them! WE PAID FOR THE GAME, THEREFORE WE SHOULD NOT SEE ADS...

Do you have some proof that an image is causing the crashes, Thats all they are. For someone who seems to have a gripe with all things TSC, You spend alot of time around here rather than playing your beloved Trainz Model Railway

  11. NO OFFENCE! I AM NOT THE ONLY PERSON WHO HAS THIS SAME 'COMMON' ERROR IN TSC. SO, IF YOU WANT SCREENSHOTS. SEARCH FOR IT!!! I'VE UNINSTALLED [EDIT - Jan - Insulting]

I don't get any Ads in the game and I don't know anyone else who does.

I see loading Screens and sometime you get a promo for something for the game that is on sale.
Can you provide a screenshot of one of these ads that you see?

It might work out where they are coming from

If it were the promo loading screens then cityrail-rulez would find the solution in playing offline. Of course they have nothing to do with that.

Apparently he does not understand that the issues are related to non-DTG stuff he has installed.
I've got 850 gigs of content and TSC runs absolutely stable.

The Steam verification is there for a good reason and might help users like him.

But then, he's made a decision. So let him go and play Trainzzzzz :)

I don't think cityrail-rulez has gone quite yet but he has not bothered with the reply to my question.
