Evening all, Does anyone out there have experience/ knowledge of merging routes that I could tap into? i am attempting to merge a version of Western Lines of Scotland and WCML over Shap to create a modern day (Preston) Carlisle - Stranraer route. I've tried merging various iterations of both routes with no success. Every attempt ends in the sim crashing. I can easily merge both routes with other routes, albeit disconnected as different starting points, and have previously successfully merged other routes in the past. I have a fair bit of experience in TS and can find my way around a .BIN file, so I'm fairly knowledgeable. I've attempted using the RW Merge Route tool that was available many years ago. Using this leads to the sim crashing when I attempt to open the merged route in the editor. I've also attempted the messier route of transferring everything relevant across and manually editing the Tracks.bin file. This has been semi-successful and I can open the merged route no problem. Everything shows up in game as expected, however, when I attempt to edit scenario's no tracks show up on the merged in section in the 2D map and I cannot select a track marker in the editor (although I can see them). I have tried this on clean unedited versions of both routes truncated and tracks trimmed back at the merge point. I've also tried leaving a full tile empty as a buffer and it still won't work. Have I missed something? Has anyone else ever successfully merged these routes?
Tip; the routes you name are different eras. The lines in WLOS closed after Beeching. The WCMLOS route is 80s. They are not advisable for merges. If you were to do so, you would want to find a 60s layout for WCMLOS and incorporate it in route building. Unless you mean a different route?
Yeah, that's not an issue. I intend to revamp WLoS to a similar fictional spec as WCMLoS (I have already done this to great effect in an earlier version) for personal use. The only issue I have is as described above. Could it be a Tracks.bin issue?
